Baltimore, MD - Johns Hopkins goalkeeper Gary Kane, Jr. (Lansdale, PA/LaSalle College) made two saves in the penalty kick round and Rob Morrison (Malibu, CA/Loyola) scored in the fifth round as the Blue Jays advanced to the Division III NCAA Tournament, 1-1 (4-3 in penalty kicks), over Franklin & Marshall Sunday afternoon in the Centennial Conference Men's Soccer Championship Match.

Hopkins, the top seed in the tournament, is now 15-2-2 this season, while two-seeded Franklin & Marshall is now 8-9-2. The NCAA will announce the men's soccer tournament pairings and sites Sunday evening at 10 p.m. This year's appearance will be the Blue Jays' sixth in the last nine years.

Peter Pryzbylkowski (Blackwood, NJ/Bishop Eustace) opened the penalty kick session for Franklin & Marshall and hit the left post with his shot, and Daniel Brienza (Farmingville, NY/Sachem) gave Hopkins the early advantage by scoring in the first round. Alex Sanchez (Alicante, Spain/Alicante scored for the Diplomats and Chris Brown (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) scored for Hopkins in the second round, and after Franklin & Marshall's Steve Schneider (Elverson, PA/Twin Valley) scored in the third, Diplomat goalkeeper Chris Milano (Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) stopped JHU's Chad Tarabolous (Tulsa, OK/Cascia Hall) to even the score at 2-2 after three rounds.

Matt Holcomb (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Brother Rice) scored for Franklin & Marshall and Steve Read (Skillman, NJ/The Lawrenceville School) scored for Hopkins in the fourth round, and after Kane stopped Diplomat senior Dave Nelson (Ambler, PA/Wissahickon) low to the left side in the fifth, Morrison scored to end the match.

The Blue Jays opened the scoring just 43 seconds before the end of the first half, as Tarabolous deflected home a long ball by Morrison. The Diplomats answered in the 72nd minute, as Sanchez headed in a corner kick by Dave Heller (Somers, NY/North Salem).

Hopkins, which out-shot Franklin & Marshall, 23-7, had several scoring chances late in regulation, but a header by Adam Hack (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) sailed high and Milano made a save on a header by Read. Milano finished with eight saves, while Kane made three stops.
