Johns Hopkins' Maclean and Moore Named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America

2020-21 Academic All-America Men's Soccer Team

AUSTIN, TX – Johns Hopkins men's soccer 2021 graduates Alejandro Maclean and RJ Moore have been selected to the 2020-21 First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America Team it was announced today. Hopkins' two selections are the only two for the Centennial Conference. In addition, Hopkins is one of two schools in the nation with two first team selections.
 
JHU has now produced 12 CoSIDA Academic All-America selections, including 10 under head coach Craig Appleby. This is the fifth time since 2006 that two Blue Jays have earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
 
The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, Division II Division III and NAIA.
 
Moore graduated in May with degrees in economics and applied mathematics and statistics while posting a 3.93 cumulative GPA. The 2017 CC Rookie of the Year, he is a three-time All-CC and two-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection. He earned First Team United Soccer Coaches and Second Team D3soccer.com All-America honors as well as First Team Scholar All-America and CC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in 2019. For his career, he has totaled six goals and 15 assists for 27 points in 60 games.
 
Moore interned with the Susquehanna International Group last summer and was a summer actuarial analyst for Willis Towers Watson in 2019. He is a member of Blue Jays LEAD as well as the Quantitative Finance Club. Moore also volunteers as a tutor with Hopkins And1 and is a mentor in JHU's Student-Athlete Mentorship Program.
 
Maclean graduated last month with a 3.57 cumulative GPA and a degree in economics. He earned Third Team United Soccer Coaches All-America and First Team All-Region honors in 2019, when he was also selected the CC Tournament MVP. He is also a two-time All-CC selection and was named a First Team Scholar All-America by the United Soccer Coaches in 2019. In 58 career games, Maclean has tallied 14 goals and eight assists for 36 points. Eight of his 14 goals were game-winners.
 
Last month, Maclean began work as a rotational analyst at JP Morgan, where he was previously a summer analyst. He also interned at Deer Pond Capital and Godot Investments LLC while in school. In addition, he worked in the athletic department equipment room since August 2018. Maclean was a research assistant in Hopkins' Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health and the Study of Business Enterprise this past fall.
