As the clock ticked on the, Stevens stepped up its pressure and got rewarded in the 78th minute when the Ducks drew a free kick just 20 yards from goal. Bruno Andino took the kick for Stevens and blasted a shot into the left side of the goal to draw the Ducks level in the 78th minute.
The teams then battled through the remainder of regulation and two 10-minute overtimes without another goal. The ticket to the national semifinals would be decided in a shootout and it was the Ducks that prevailed, 5-4.
Hopkins had a 12-7 advantage in shots and a 7-3 advantage in corners.
