A.J. Kopacz, Franklin & Marshall, Player of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall's A.J. Kopacz, Johns Hopkins' Ian Whamond, and Ursinus' Keith Cappo claimed top honors to lead the 2021 All-Centennial Conference Men's Soccer Team.

Kopacz, a senior forward for the Diplomats, was chosen as Player of the Year. It marks the fifth time and F&M player has received the conference's top award, and first since 2013. Also a first-team selection, Kopacz has now earned All-Centennial honors three times in his career after being named to the second team in 2018 and 2019.

Whamond, a freshman midfielder for the Blue Jays, was named Rookie of the Year and All-CC first team. Whamond becomes the first JHU player to win Rookie of the Year since the award began in 2012, and is just the 13th freshman in CC history to be named to the first team.

Cappo was tabbed by his peers as Coach of the Year after guiding Ursinus to an impressive turnaround season in his sixth season at the helm. The Bears 10-6-1 overall and 5-4 in Centennial play, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot. Cappo and the Bears doubled their win total from 2019 and improved from 10th to sixth place in the conference standings.

Hopkins and F&M led the way with seven honorees apiece, followed by Washington College (6), Gettysburg (6), Swarthmore (4), Ursinus (3), Haverford (3), and Muhlenberg (2).

A 12-player contingent repeated as All-CC picks. Kopacz, JHU's Xander Lefevre, and Muhlenberg's Mark Walter collected the all-star honors for the third time in their career to lead the way. Players who collected their second All-CC awards included Washington College's James Strine, Johns Hopkins' Liam Creedon and Tim Treinen, Gettysburg's Jonathan Molina and Connor O'Donnell, Swarthmore Harry Nevin, F&M's Shay Adamson, Haverford's Noah Schwab, and Muhlenberg's Chris Richards

Johns Hopkins has the most first-team selections (69) in the 29-year history of the Conference, followed by Gettysburg (54), Franklin & Marshall (44) and Muhlenberg (44). Dickinson (32) is next followed by Haverford (30), Swarthmore (16), McDaniel (12), Washington College (8) and Ursinus (5).
