CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- The Washington College men's tennis team improved to 9-4 overall and evened its Centennial Conference record at 3-3 this season with a 7-2 win over visiting Muhlenberg this afternoon at Scotland Tennis Center. The Mules slipped to 3-6 and 2-4 with the loss. 

The Shoremen's first point came at No. 3 singles where sophomore Zachary Novick (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) and freshman Justin Panepinto (Cary, N.C./Middle Creek) cruised to an 8-1 win over Jordan Greene and Adam Halpern. Senior Ryan Holtschneider (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) and sophomore Jeremy Novick (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) then pulled away from David Woods and Neil Schulman in an 8-3 win. Eric Chavis and Mickey Schindler picked up a win for Muhlenberg at No. 1, besting seniors Dan Boaté (West Chester, Pa./Reed Henderson) and Vishnu Rajes (Yercaud, India/St. John's), 8-5, to cut the Shoremen's lead to 2-1 after doubles. 

Boaté made it 3-1 with a 7-5, 6-2, win against Chavis at No. 2 singles and Rajes quickly followed with the completion of his 6-3, 6-3, victory against Wood at No. 1. Jeremy Novick clinched the Shoremen's win with a 6-2, 7-5, victory at No. 4. Panepinto blanked Greene, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6, while Zachary Novick got the better of Halpern, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5. The Mules won the final match to finish as Schindler outlasted Holtschneider, 0-6, 7-6(6), 7-5, at No. 3.
