Blue Jays' NCAA Run Concludes with 5-1 Loss to Emory in Final Four

• The Short Story: Emory beat Johns Hopkins, 5-1, in the NCAA Semifinals to end the Blue Jays' postseason run.
 
How it Happened
• The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles. Andrew Esses and Will Wanner picked up the first point of the match with an 8-1 win over freshmen Daniel Ardila and Arjun Asokumar at second doubles. Sahil Raina and Nolan Shah followed with an 8-3 win at third over seniors Vishnu Joshi and Eric Yoo. Hayden Cassone and Alec Rabinowitz completed Emory's sweep of doubles with a tight 8-7 (4) win over freshmen James and Thomas Yu at first.
• Wanner pushed the Eagles' lead to four when he defeated James Yu 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles. Joshi got the Blue Jays on the board with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Cassone at first. Shah then defeated sophomore Andrew Tran 6-3, 6-3 at sixth to close out the match and send Emory to the national championship.  
 
What it Means
• Hopkins ends its season at 11-1 and sees its 14-match win streak snapped. The Blue Jays' fourth-place finish in the NCAA Tournament is the highest finish in program history.
• The Blue Jays fall to 1-9 all-time against the Eagles, including 2-0 in the NCAA Tournament.
• Chuck Willenborg finishes with a record of 259-69 (.789) in his tenure as head coach of the Blue Jays. Including his one season as Director of Tennis, Hopkins was 278-74 (.790) in the 17 seasons since Willenborg arrived at Homewood. JHU won 15 Centennial Conference titles and made 15 NCAA Tournament appearances since 2005.
