National Champion! Haverford's Morgan Wins 3000

Haverford senior Greg Morgan took home the Division III national championship in the indoor 3,000-meter run on Saturday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass., headlining Centennial Conference performances at the NCAA Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship.

Morgan finished the 3,000 in a time of 8:14.71, and became Haverford's 11th individual indoor champion and second straight champion in the 3,000 meters. Haverford becomes the first program ever to have back-to-back champions in the men's indoor 3,000 meters as Morgan's feat replicated Dylan Gearinger's win in last season's 3,000 meter race in Birmingham, Ala.

In the heptathlon, Johns Hopkins' freshman Justin Canedy placed seventh with 4,956 points to secure All-America honors. It marked Canedy's second All-America honor, as he also claimed fifth in the high jump on Friday.

Haverford finished 19th in the team standings with 10 points, while Hopkins tied for 30th with eight points.
