CARLISLE, Pa.  – A change of venue did little to dampen the spirits of the Gettysburg College softball team as the Bullets took a pair of games from Dickinson College in a Centennial Conference match up Tuesday evening at Dickinson Park.

With its home opener delayed for the fourth time this spring, Gettysburg (12-5) treated Dickinson's (6-12, 2-4 CC) home park as its own with a pair of victories. The Bullets scored a run in all five innings, capped with a two-run blast by sophomore Steph Zengel (High Bridge, N.J./North Hunterdon) to win the opener 9-0. Gettysburg, which was the home team for both games, bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to win the nightcap 5-2.

The Bullets scored one run in each of the first three frames in the opening game before breaking the game open in the fourth. After loading the bases with one out, Gettysburg received back-to-back-to-back run-scoring singles from sophomore Meghan Hisgen (East Northport, N.Y./Commack), junior Emily Hall (Reston, Va./Flint Hill School), and sophomore Morgan Heinbach (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic). Senior Brooke Kalman (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest) polished off the inning with another RBI single to set the score at 7-0.

Zengel put the game to bed with a two-run blast – her first of the spring - with one out in the fifth inning.

Sophomore Michelle Fox (Newton, N.J./Blair Academy) allowed just three hits while striking out three en route to her second shutout of the season. She improved to 6-2 with the win.

Zengel finished 2-for-4 with a run, a double, a home run, and three RBI. Senior Maggie Maguire (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) reached base in all three of her plate appearances, posting a hit and two walks and scoring one run. Junior Melissa Tighe (Little Falls, N.J./Mt. St. Dominic) went 3-for-4 with two runs, one RBI, and a stolen base.

After three scoreless innings in the nightcap, Dickinson jumped out in front 2-0 following a home run by Grace Edelson in the top of the fourth inning.

Gettysburg answered in the home half with three unearned runs. Hall cashed in a pair of runs with a single and senior Abby Ferguson (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity) added the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice.

Hall and Ferguson each tacked on run-scoring singles in the fifth to cap the scoring.

The Bullets posted a dozen hits in the nightcap with two apiece coming from Tighe, Zengel, Maguire, and Hall. Hall drove in three runs and Maguire came around to score twice.

Junior Lindsey Treanor (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) improved to 6-3 after fanning six over seven innings. She allowed two earned runs on seven hits and one walk.

Gettysburg returns to action with a conference twinbill at McDaniel College on Thursday, April 3, beginning at 3 p.m.
