HAVERFORD, Pa.-– The Dickinson College softball team captured the 2019 Centennial Conference Championship, holding off Haverford College, 1-0, in the championship game on Saturday afternoon.

The title marks the second in Dickinson program history, with the other occuring in 2010. The Red Devils improve to 24-15 on the season and earn the Centennial Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. 

The Red Devils advanced to the final with a 9-1 victory over Ursinus on Tuesday and another 1-0 win over Haverford on Friday. Friday's win moved Dickinson into the championship while Haverford had to work its way into the final with a 16-11 decision over Swarthmore on Saturday.

Dickinson senior Madison Milaszewski tossed another great game on Saturday, scatting seven hits while recording seven strikeouts for her second straight shutout. She just missed tossing a perfect game on Friday, becoming untouchable after hitting and walking the first two batters of the game.

Milaszewski was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player for her outstanding performance, becoming one of four pitchers to toss a no-hitter in the conference tournament. She allowed just one run in three games while booking 20 strikeouts.

Briana Quinn did what she could, allowing seven hits as well and going 2-for-3 at the plate for Haverford. Emma Souter and Rachel Wolfson each tallied two hits as well.

The Red Devils went work in the fourth inning to produce the lone run of the game. Sophomore Maggie McConney hit a one-out double and moved to third on a follow-up single from classmate Kristen Acocella. 

First-year Paige Hahn cracked a single down the line in right field to bring in McConney to put the Devils on the board.

The 'Fords threatened in the fifth with a help of a double from Quinn but Milaszewski and the Red Devils closed out the inning to hold the lead. Haverford put runners on second and third in the sixth and on again in the seventh, but Dickinson would hold on with great defense to capture the second Centennial Conference title in program history.

Hahn led the Red Devils at the plate, going 2-for-3 on the afternoon. Julie Siecinski added a double and junior Kat Parise tripled while first-year Hannah Seburn added a single as well.
