Oden Earns WBCA All-America Honors

WBCA All-America Team

Atlanta, GA - Johns Hopkins senior Diarra Oden has been named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America first team, becoming the eighth All-America in program history.

Oden is just the second Blue Jay, joining Julie Anderson in 1998, to be named to the All-American first team. Six of the eight honorees in Blue Jay history were WBCA Honorable Mention All-Americans. Ten players were named to the first team, while 40 players were named honorable mention All-America by the WBCA.

Oden's combination of work on the court and off of it has put her in rare air in Johns Hopkins history. The Atlanta native is one of five players in program history to be named Centennial Conference Player of the Year. She is one of six players in program history to be named to the d3hoops All-Region team. She is one of seven players to be named to a CoSIDA Academic All-District team and is one of just two Blue Jays to be named a Jostens Trophy finalist. Oden is the first player in program history to check each and every one of those boxes.

The senior guard is the first All-America selection for the Jays since Lillian Scott in 2019. Johns Hopkins accumulated a record of 22-5 this season, going 18-2 in the Centennial Conference and earning an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. Under Oden's leadership and play, Hopkins won a program-record 15 consecutive games.

A three-time captain, Oden's name is littered throughout the Blue Jay record books after averaging 16.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest this season. Oden's 437 points scored this year were good for 13th in program history and her 16.2 points per game were good for 16th. Oden made 108 free throws on the season, placing her sixth in single-season history.

In the individual career records, Oden ranks fifth in free throws made (257), eighth in minutes per game (27.7), eighth in points per game (13.4), 11th in free throw percentage (.769) 12th in points scored (1,073), 15th in three-point field goals made (78), 17th in defensive rebounds (271), 18th in field goals made (369) and 20th in steals (137).
