Mackenzie Szlosek, Gettysburg, Player of the Year

Mackenzie Szlosek, Gettysburg, Player of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Gettysburg's Mackenzie Szlosek and Alayna Arnolie and Haverford's Kayla Robinson secured top athlete honors while the Dickinson coaching staff rounded out the major awards to lead the 2023 All-Centennial Women's Basketball Team.

Szlosek, a sophomore guard for CC champion Gettysburg, was selected as Player of the Year. An honorable mention pick as a freshman in 2022, Szlosek established herself as an all-around force in the conference in 2023, averaging 13.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 47.9% from the floor. Szlosek becomes the fourth Bullet to earn the conference's top award, joining Emma Dorshimer (2019), Emily Gibbons (2017 & 2018) and Jennifer Bengel (2006) in that category.

Robinson, a senior forward for the Fords, was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Year and also named to the All-CC second team. Robinson dominated the glass this winter, averaging 14.3 rebounds per contest, which ranks second in CC single-season history. She also led the conference with 2.6 steals per contest. Robinson is the first Ford to win the award since it was instituted in the 2017-18 season.

Arnolie, who was named the CC Tournament MVP this past weekend, collected Rookie of the Year accolades. The freshman guard made an immediate impact for the Bullets, starting all 27 games up to this point with averages of 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists per game and 1.3 steals per game. Arnolie is the fourth Gettysburg player to win the top newcomer honor, which leads the conference.

Dickinson was chosen as the Coaching Staff of the Year in the inaugural year of the award. Previously titled Coach of the Year, the Centennial adjusted the name of the award for all sports in 2022-23. Second-year head coach Aby Diop and assistants Megan Green and Lou Gingrich helped guide the Red Devils to a 17-8 regular season record that included a 15-5 mark in Centennial play and the No. 3 seed in the CC postseason. This marks the first time that a Dickinson coach has been honored with the top coaching honor in the CC.

Johns Hopkins leads the conference with 26 first-team All-Centennial honorees since 1994, followed by Muhlenberg (23). Gettysburg (21) is third, while Swarthmore (16), Franklin & Marshall (13), McDaniel (13), Dickinson (11), Ursinus (11), Haverford (9) and Washington College (2) round out the team-by-team list.
