Diarra Oden, Johns Hopkins, Player of the Year

Diarra Oden, Johns Hopkins, Player of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins' Diarra Oden, McDaniel's Josey Klingenberg, Ursinus' Chinwe Irondi and Gettysburg head coach Nate Davis collected major awards to lead the 2022 All-Centennial Women's Basketball Team.

Oden, a senior guard for JHU, was named Player of the Year. She becomes the fifth Blue Jay to collect the Centennial's top honor and first since Lyndsay Burton in 2011. Oden is also now a two-time first-team All-CC performer throughout her career.

Klingenberg, a junior guard for McDaniel, was selected as Defensive Player of the Year after leading the conference with 3.2 steals per contest this season. Klingenberg is the first Green Terror player to collect top defensive honors since its inception in the 2017-18 season.

Irondi, a freshman forward for the Bears, made an immediate impact at the collegiate level and was named Rookie of the Year. She is the second Ursinus player to receive Rookie of the Year, joining former standout Lydia Konstanzer in the top rookie club. Irondi was also selected to the All-CC first team, becoming just the fourth freshman in conference history and first since 2008 to earn that distinction.

Davis was selected by his peers as Coach of the Year for the second time during his tenure at Gettysburg, with the other coming in 2018. Davis and the Bullets won both the CC regular season and tournament titles.

Johns Hopkins leads the conference with 25 first-team All-Centennial honorees since 1994, followed by Muhlenberg (23). Gettysburg (20) is third, while Swarthmore (16), Franklin & Marshall (13), McDaniel (13), Dickinson (10), Ursinus (10), Haverford (8) and Washington College (2) round out the team-by-team list.
