HOUSTON, Texas. – The Gettysburg College women's golf team wrapped up the opening day of the NCAA Division III Championship at the Bay Oaks Country Club on Tuesday.
 
Gettysburg posted a team score of 355 on day one, which put the team in a tie for 20th with Drew University. St. Mary's College (Ind.) is 14 strokes ahead with a 341, while the University of Redlands turned in the lowest score on the opening day, shooting a 306.
 
Hannah Fireman (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) paced the Bullets with an 84 to place in a tie for 73rd. On the front nine, she recorded five pars and four bogeys, while producing two pars, five bogeys, and a birdie on the par-five, 465-yard No. 11 hole on the back nine.
 
Junior Skylar Frankiewicz (Concord, Mass./Concord Carlisle) carded an 87 to tie for 87th. She shot a 43 on the front nine, including four pars and four bogeys, and a 44 on the back nine with four pars and two bogeys.
 
Junior Katie McCarthy (Westlake, Ohio/Hathaway Brown School) opened the NCAAs by hitting two birdies through the first nine holes. She tallied her first birdie on the par-4, 360-yard No. 1 hole and the second on the par-5, 440-yard No. 7 hole, and posted four of her five pars on the back nine, finishing with an 89 to tie for 96th.
 
Senior Gillian Marini (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and freshman Cameron D'Amica (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley) rounded out the Gettysburg lineup with a tie for 115th and a tie for 123rd, respectively.
 
The second round officially begins on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. EST. Gettysburg's first tee is set for 9:20 a.m. EST.
