Fireman Cards 77 on Day Two; Bullets T-21st

HOUSTON, Texas.  – Junior Hannah Fireman (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) sliced seven strokes off her opening-round score to lead the Gettysburg College women's golf team at the conclusion of the second day of the NCAA Division III Championship at the Bay Oaks Country Club on Wednesday.
 
The Bullets registered a 359 on day two, putting the team in a tie for 21st with Drew University to finish with a two-day total of 714. The University of Mount Union holds the 20th spot with a score of 706 (357-349), while New York University jumped six positions into first place, shooting a total of 613 (311-302).
 
After firing an opening-round 84, Fireman continued to guide the Bullets with a 77 on Wednesday. Fireman was just one over through her first nine holes and posted a pair of birdies, one at the par-4, 360-yard No. 1 hole and the second on the par-4, 365-yard No. 9 hole. Fireman jumped 16 spots into a tie for 57th.
 
For the second day in a row, junior Skylar Frankiewicz (Concord, Mass./Concord Carlisle) carded an 87, placing her in a tie for 95th. She registered a total of eight pars and six bogeys on day two.
 
Junior Katie McCarthy (Westlake, Ohio/Hathaway Brown School) and senior Gillian Marini (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) are 114th and tied for 118th in the standings, respectively. McCarthy shot a 97 and Marini carded a 99 as both finished the day with two pars each.
 
Freshman Cameron D'Amica (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley) rounded out the starters with a 98, shaving five strokes off from her first day score. She is 125th overall.
 
Gettysburg will be one of the first teams on the course for round three with the team's tee time scheduled for 9:20 a.m. EST. At the end of third round, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not to those teams leading into Friday's final round.
