Top-ranked Gettysburg and fifth-ranked Franklin & Marshall each posted convincing victories in the third round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday, sending the Bullets and Diplomats to the Elite Eight. It marks the seventh time in the last 11 seasons that both Gettysburg and F&M have reached the national quarterfinals. 


GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior goalie Bailey Pilder(Rowayton, Conn./New Canaan) posted 11 saves and nine different players reached the scoring column as top-ranked Gettysburg College cruised into the NCAA Division III Championship quarterfinals with a 14-3 victory over Denison University Saturday afternoon at Clark Field.

The Bullets will face No. 8 Wesleyan (Conn.) University (16-3) in Sunday's regional championship at 2:30 p.m. The Cardinals took down No. 2 Washington and Lee University (18-3) 13-7 in Saturday's second game at Clark Field.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – No. 5 Franklin & Marshall came away with a 19-7 victory over Illinois Wesleyan in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats will take on host No. 3 Middlebury tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. F&M will look to advance to the program's third Final Four appearance, heading into tomorrow with a 17-4 mark while the Titans' season ended at 18-3.
