Seven Receive IWLCA All-America Accolades

2021 IWLCA All-America Team

Seven Centennial Conference women's lacrosse players have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America Team. Franklin & Marshall had four players earn the honor, while Gettysburg received three spots on the All-America squad.

F&M goalkeeper Emily Kitchin and midfielder Marissa McGarrey led the way as first team honorees. F&M attacker Ally Marino and defender Mary Pat McKenna along with Gettysburg attacker Kerry McKeever nabbed second team laurels, while Gettysburg defender Sara Howard and attacker Bri Stokes landed on the third team.

Kitchin and McKeever were both repeat IWLCA All-Americans after also receiving the honor in 2019.

A total of 57 athletes who were named to one of the 2021 Division III All-American teams by the IWLCA.

The full team is listed below and available via the link at the top of this page.

Kitchin was a repeat All-America selection after earning second team honors in 2019. The junior goalie finished the 2021 season with a 6.51 GAA and .540 save percentage as both marks were among the top 20 in Division III. She led the CC in both of those categories during the regular season in addition to her conference-best seven victories. Kitchin saved over 60% of the shots she faced during five different contests, including a season-best 11 saves at Washington College. That standout performance came just one week after stopping 77.8% of Dickinson's shots on goal.

McGarrey joined Kitchin as the CC representatives on the first team, earning All-America honors for the first time in her career. The junior midfielder registered multiple goals in each CC victory this spring, including hat tricks during the final five games of the regular season. The CC Midfielder of the Year, McGarrey helped the Diplomats clinch the CC championship with a season-high six-point performances (4 goals, 2 assists) against both Muhlenberg and Gettysburg. Her 21 goals ranked third in the CC and she added seven assists for a total of 28 points.

Marino scored multiple goals in five of F&M's eight games and had multiple points in all but one contest. Marino registered a season-best six points (4 goals, 2 assists) during the season-opener at McDaniel and matched that point production with five goals and one assist during the CC-championship-clinching victory against Gettysburg. Her 29 points ranked fourth in the conference after the postseason while her 10 assists and 19 goals were the fifth and sixth-best marks, respectively.

McKenna, the CC Defensive Player of the Year, helped F&M rank first in the conference in both caused turnovers and goals against average during the regular season. She caused a season-high four turnovers during her season debut against McDaniel and went on to force at least one turnover during seven of F&M's eight contests. McKenna added 11 ground balls and nine draw controls to her final stat line. She has now started each of her first 12 games as a member of the Diplomats.

A third-team selection by both the IWLCA in 2019 and by Inside Lacrosse in 2020, McKeever bumped up to the second team in her final campaign. The senior attacker tied for the team lead with 20 goals and added six assists, eight ground balls, and a team-best 21 draw controls. She scored at least two goals in all but one game this spring, including a career-high seven against Muhlenberg. McKeever was also named All-Metro Region first team, Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year, and All-CC first team this season. She scored a goal in each of her final 40 games as a Bullet and finished her career with 140 goals, 51 assists, 191 points, and 189 draw controls in 55 games.

Stokes added national honors following a final season in which she was also named All-Metro Region first team and All-CC first team. She was Gettysburg's leading scorer with 34 points and she paced the conference with 14 assists. She connected on 57.1 percent of her shot attempts and tied McKeever for team honors with 20 goals this spring. Stokes produced a trio of seven-point performances, including back-to-back efforts against Washington and Muhlenberg College to open the season. She tallied at least three points in all six games this spring.  For her career, Stokes compiled 131 points on 98 goals and 33 assists in 53 games.

Gettysburg's vocal leader in the backfield, Howard was named to the All-America team for the first time. The senior defender spearheaded a defensive effort that posted a goals-against average of 7.27 and held opponents to a paltry shooting percentage of .323. She posted four ground balls and four caused turnovers, but her presence was felt even more keenly off the stat sheet, often doubling attackers on the arc and completing numerous clear attempts. Howard posted a pair of caused turnovers against Washington and McDaniel this spring. A three-year starter, she finished her career with 19 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers in 36 games.
