Seven Centennial Conference women's lacrosse players have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America Team. Franklin & Marshall and Gettysburg each had three players earn the honor, while Haverford secured one spot on the All-America squad.
First-teamers included Gettysburg attacker Jordan Basso, F&M goalkeeper Emily Kitchin, F&M attacker Ally Marino, and F&M defender Mary Pat McKenna. Haverford midfielder Roma Hladky earned second team accolades, while the Gettysburg duo of attacker Kate Fullowan and midfielder Caroline Sullivan nabbed honorable mention honors.
Kitchin becomes a three-time IWLCA All-American, while Marino and McKenna receive the honor for the second-straight season.
A total of 57 athletes from 33 different institutions were named to one of the 2022 Division III All-American teams by the IWLCA.
The full team is listed below and available via the link at the top of this page.
Gettysburg's Basso collected First Team All-American honors while enjoying a phenomenal sophomore season in which she also earned First Team All-American honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine, was a First Team All-Metro Region pick, and was named the Centennial Conference Attacker of the Year and First Team All-Conference. Basso has recorded 101 points on 65 goals and 36 assists to become just the sixth player in Bullets' history to record 100 points in a season. She has also netted eight game-winning goals while contributing 26 groundballs, 16 caused turnovers, and six draw controls while going 13-for-20 on free-position shots.
F&M's Kitchin graduates having earned IWLCA All-America honors during each of her competitive seasons. She replicated her first-team honors from the 2021 season and was also a second-team All-American during her rookie campaign in 2019. Additionally named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year this season, Kitchin was the final line of defense, allowing just 8.71 goals per game against one of the toughest schedules in the country while stopping 51 percent of the shots she has faced. In addition to an 18-4 record this season, the Diplomats were 40-7 during the past four years with Kitchin as the goalie of record. She recorded double-digit saves during seven different contests and stopped at least half of the shots she has faced on 11 different occasions. A two-year team captain, Kitchin made a season-high 15 saves when F&M defeated Salisbury and posted at least 10 saves during both the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 contests.
F&M's Marino earned first-team All-America honors from the IWLCA after second-team recognition last season. She was also a three-time all-region and All-Centennial Conference performer during her career, earning that recognition during each of her three seasons in which those awards were presented. Marino scored 60 goals and tallied 30 more assists during her season campaign to finish her career with 189 points which ranks among the top 20 players in program history despite only having played in 56 career contests. Marino had at least three points during 20 of the Diplomats' 22 games played this season. That included nine hat tricks and 19 multi-goal outings. Her high water mark came with seven goals and two assists against No. 16 Catholic.
F&M's McKenna, last season's Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year, is now a two-time All-American. She earned second-team honors a year ago and joins her teammates in being named an All-American every season in which those awards were presented by the IWLCA. The junior is also a two-time first-team All-CC and All-Metro Region honoree heading into her senior campaign. Having started every game since she stepped on F&M's campus, McKenna caused 29 turnovers and scooped up 39 ground balls this past season. She caused a turnover during 17 of the team's 22 contests, including multiple CT performances on eight occasions. McKenna recorded a season-best four caused turnovers against nationally-ranked Haverford during the Centennial Conference semifinals, adding a season-high four ground balls to her stat line that day. That was one of 11 games in which McKenna secured multiple GBs, originally setting her season high during the matchups with then-No. 16 York (Pa.) and Swarthmore.
Haverford's Hladky earned second-team All-American designation from the IWLCA a week after earning the honorable mention honor from US Lacrosse Magazine. The national honors come on the heels of an incredibly spirited campaign in which she finished her season in the Centennial Conference lead for goals (57), including a CC-best 36 tallies in conference competition. In addition to that impressive goals mark, she posted multiple goals in all but one game this season, including a season-best seven on two occasions, reaching that benchmark against Washington College (Apr. 16) and Swarthmore (Apr. 23). Hladky was named the Centennial Conference Midfielder of the Year on May 10.
Gettysburg's Fullowan captured Third Team All-American laurels after being named Honorable Mention All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine and earning First Team All-Metro Region and First Team All-Centennial Conference honors. The junior ranks second on Gettysburg's scoring chart with 59 goals and 11 assists for 70 points. A starter in all 22 games this spring, Fullowan leads the Bullets with 22 free-position goals and 80 draw controls while also collecting 24 groundballs and ten caused turnovers.
Gettysburg's Sullivan earned Third Team All-American honors after also being selected as a Third Team All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine and garnering First Team All-Metro Region and First Team All-Centennial Conference accolades. The sophomore paces Gettysburg with 47 groundballs and is tied for the team lead with 25 caused turnovers this spring while ranking fourth on the squad in scoring with 49 points on 33 goals and 16 assists. Sullivan, who has started all 22 games to date, is 8-for-15 on free-position shots and has corralled 25 draw controls this season.
