Complete United Soccer Coaches All-America Team
Johns Hopkins senior Emily Maheras was named to the All-America Second Team it was announced on Thursday night. The senior from Bernardsville, NJ recently completed an outstanding senior season, helping to lead the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays to the NCAA Elite Eight.
This is the 12th season in a row in which the Blue Jays have had an All-American. 10 Blue Jays have combined for 16 All-America honors in program history. All 16 All-America honors have come under head coach Leo Weil.
Maheras, a senior midfielder, started all 24 matches in 2019, scoring a team-best 17 goals while adding three assists. Her 37 points were good for ninth in the program's single-season history. In her career, Maheras scored 30 career goals and finished with 66 career points, placing 10th and 16th on the Blue Jays all-time list.
Earlier this season, the New Jersey native became the first player in program history to score a goal in at six or more straight games more than once. Between September 7th at Stevens and September 21st versus Bryn Mawr, Maheras scored in six straight games, accumulating seven goals during that time. Later in the season, Maheras scored a goal in seven straight games, including five straight postseason games.
Maheras adds this honor to an already hefty list of career accolades. The senior was named First Team All-Region for the second year in a row this season. She is also a two-time All-Centennial first team selection and the 2019 Centennial Conference Player of the Year. Finally, Maheras was named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American in 2018.
