Hopkins & Dickinson to Clash for Women's Soccer Crown

Championship Central

Top seeds Johns Hopkins and Dickinson posted home victories in Friday's semifinals to move on to Sunday's Centennial Conference women's soccer championship.

In Baltimore, Md., top-seeded Hopkins blanked defending champion and fourth-seeded McDaniel 3-0. Breukelen Woodard scored twice in a 71-second span late in the first half and Kacie Filian added an insurance goal in the 64th minute for JHU. The Blue Jays advance to the title game for the 19th time, seeking their 13th tournament title and 15th overall crown.

In Carlisle, Pa., second-seeded Dickinson scored late in regulation to force overtime and won 2-1 in extra time over third-seeded Swarthmore. The Garnet opened the scoring in the 18th minute as Alice Onyango-Opiyo buried a free kick from the top of the box. The Garnet led for most of the contest, but Charlotte Glancey got the Red Devils on the board in the 74th minute to force overtime. At the 4:05 mark of the first OT period, Lauren Bracken finished a feed from Meg Tate that proved to be the game-winner. The Red Devils will make their sixth title game appearance and are seeking their first CC title.

Sunday's championship will mark the sixth time that Hopkins and Dickinson will square off for the title, with the other matchups occuring in 2019, 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2005.
