LANCASTER, Pa. -- Ursinus swept the top awards to highlight the 2022 All-Centennial Women's Swimming Team. Senior Sophie Lear was selected as the championship meet Most Outstanding Performer for the second time in her career, sophomore Missy Leonard earned Rookie Outstanding Performer accolades, and head coach Mark Feinberg collected Coach of the Year
Lear is one of four Ursinus swimmers to win the conference's top honor of Most Outstanding Performer along with Sydney Gundersen (2018), Peyten Lyons (2017), and Malena Lair Ferrari (2014). She is the first Bear and sixth swimmer in CC history to win the award multiple times, as she also collected MOP and Rookie Outstanding Performer awards at the 2019 meet. Lear compiled 60 individual points for the Bears at the championship with victories in the 200 IM, 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle while also contributing to gold-medal 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.
Leonard is the fourth Bear to win Rookie Outstanding Performer honors since the award was instituted in 2013, joining Lear and former Ursinus standouts Lyons and Lair Ferrari in top rookie club. At the CC championship, Leonard won all three of her freestyle individual events (500 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 1650 freestyle) and was also part of winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
Feinberg was selected as Coach of the Year by his peers after leading the Bears to eight golds at the championship meet. It marks the ninth COY honor for Feinberg, who previously secured the honor for eight consecutive seasons from 2012-19.
Swarthmore led the All-Centennial team with 14 swimmers honored, including 11 on the first team. Gettysburg was next with seven All-CC recipients, while Franklin & Marshall and Ursinus each secured five spots.
