• The Short Story: For the second time in less than a month, the Johns Hopkins women's tennis team beat host Mary Washington. This time the stakes were higher as the 14^th-ranked Blue Jays earned a berth in the NCAA Sweet 16 with their 5-1 win over the 15^th-ranked Eagles.
 
How it Happened 
• Hopkins took control of the match early with a doubles sweep. Sophomore Anjie Kashyap and junior Sophia Strickland put the Blue Jays up 1-0 with an 8-3 win over Rachel Summers and Lauren Quinn, the third-ranked doubles team in the region.
• Sophomore Dhanya Asokumar and senior Kimberly Zou followed with an 8-5 upset of the 14^th-ranked doubles squad, Danielle Mirabella and Claire Coleman, at second. Freshman Evelyn Chang and senior Katie Gauchcompleted the sweep, without losing a game, with their victory over Olivia Moore and Sophie Dixon at third.
• Chang pushed Hopkins' lead to 4-0 when she defeated Mirabella 6-3, 6-1 at fourth singles. Coleman picked up a point for the Eagles with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Strickland at second. Just moments later, Asokumar clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Dixon at fifth.
 
What it Means
• Hopkins evens its all-time record against Mary Washington, 11-11. The Blue Jays have won two straight and three of the last four. JHU is now 2-2 against UMW in the NCAA Tournament.
• The Blue Jays run their school-record win streak to 18 matches.
• With her doubles win, Zou earned her 100^th combined career win. She is just the sixth player in program history to do so and the first since Hailey Hogan reached the milestone in 2014.

• Hopkins will face sixth-ranked Amherst for a spot in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday, May 12. The match is slated for a 12:00 pm start at Mary Washington.
