TEMPE, Ariz.—Swarthmore College Women's Tennis head coach Jeremy Loomis earned the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Atlantic South region Coach of the Year award on Wednesday.
Loomis just wrapped up his 17th season at the helm of the Garnet program, a year in which the Garnet went 14-5 overall and 9-1 in Centennial Conference action.
Swarthmore was ranked as high as 15th in the country back on March 10 following a hard-fought win over then No. 12 Washington University in St. Louis. Swarthmore had another win over a nationally-ranked opponent on March 30, beating No. 31 Case Western Reserve on the road. The team's only losses this year came against nationally-ranked opponents and the Garnet made it all the way to the Centennial Conference Championship, finishing as the runners-up.
The Garnet had six student-athletes earn all-conference recognition, including freshman Sonia Varma who was named the Rookie of the Year.
