• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team rolled to a 5-0 win over Cairn in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday in Baltimore.
How it Happened
• Hopkins jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a sweep of the doubles matches. Senior Dhanya Asokumar and freshman Ali Bader were the first ones off the court as they beat Rachel Campbell-Robertson and Gabriella Hurst, 8-0, at third. Sophomores Anjali Devireddy and Emily Javedan followed with an 8-0 win at first over Paige Kemper and Brianna Miller. Graduate student Sophia Strickland and senior Anjie Kashyap completed the sweep when they defeated Lauren Griffith and Sarah Jackson, 8-0, at second.
• Asokumar was once again the first one done as she blanked Jackson, 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles to put the Blue Jays on top 4-0. Junior Jessica Liang turned the same trick at sixth in her win over Abby Horning to clinch the win for Hopkins.
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 9-0 on the season and 22-14 in the NCAA Tournament. Today's match was the first-ever meeting between the Blue Jays and the Highlanders. In addition, JHU is now 13-1 in NCAA Second Round matches.
• The Blue Jays advance to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the 13th time.
• For the first time in program history, JHU won an NCAA Tournament match without losing a game.
• Strickland moves into a tie for 4th in school history with 57 career doubles wins.
• Kashyap is tied for 18t with 77 career wins (36 singles, 41 doubles).
• Asokumar is now tied for 24th with 34 career singles wins and tied for 19th with 38 career doubles wins.

• Hopkins will take on the winner of Tufts and Endicott in the NCAA Sweet 16 on Sunday, May 16 at 12:00 pm. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals in Chattanooga, TN on Monday, May 24.
