GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Johns Hopkins senior Jared Pangallozzi won the 10,000 meters to headline a total of 14 All-America honors for Centennial Conference athletes at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
In the team standings, the Johns Hopkins women placed fifth with 34 points to lead all CC teams. Dickinson women placed tied for 26th with 10 points, while Ursinus women tied for 64th with one point. On the men's side, Hopkins finished 15th with 15 points, followed by Dickinson (T-48; 5 points) and Muhlenberg (T-77; 0.25 points).
Loras (58 points) won the women's team crown, edging Wisconsin-La Crosse (56). Wartburg men (54) outlasted Wisconsin-Eau Claire (49) and Wisconsin-Oshkosh (48) for the team title.
Three CC men combined for four All-America placings, led by Pangallozzi. The JHU senior became the 12th Centennial athlete and first since 2014 to win an individual title at the national championships, running away with the 10,000 meter race by more than 12 seconds with a time of 29:55.42. Pangallozzi earned a second All-America award in the 5,000 meters at 14:18.70.
Dickinson's Chris Scharf finished fourth in the 3,000 Steeplechase (9:12.36), while Muhlenberg's Ben Arehart took eighth in the high jump (1.97m).
Ten All-America nods were earned on the women's side by nine different athletes, with JHU's Ella Baran headlining the accolades with two runner-up finishes and a conference record time. In the 5,000, Baran turned in a CC-record time of 16:30.93 to claim silver, and also placed second in the 1500 (4:23.28).
Other All-American finishes for the Blue Jays included Veronica Montane in the javelin (3rd; 44.31m), Therese Olshanski (4th; 4:30.51), Victoria Kadiri (5th; 5.63m), Annie Gutierrez (7th; 3.70m) and Ariel Keklak (8th; 4:32.21).
Dickinson collected a pair of top-five placings, with Isabel Cardi taking third in the 5,000 (16:36.74) and Elaina Clancy placing fifth in the 10,000 (35:46.56).
Ursinus' Isabelle Deal finished eighth in the javelin at 41.17m for the Bears.
