GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Haverford College volleyball team made it a three-peat on Sunday by winning its third consecutive Centennial Conference Championship with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-19) victory over No. 1 seed Gettysburg College. No.2 seed Haverford came back from a first set lost to win the last three sets.

The championship establishes Haverford as the second school in the Centennial Conference to win at least three consecutive conference titles. Gettysburg accomplished the feat from 1995-98 and 2001-05.

Unforced errors did in Haverford (24-6) early on in the first set. Gettysburg (18-11) built a 10-4 lead and forced the Fords to call a timeout. The timeout paid dividends as Haverford went on to score the next three points with two coming on kills from Franny Glick and Kelsey Cantwell. Another 3-0 run helped HC pull within two, but they could not get any closer. The Bullets finished the set on an 8-1 run.

The Fords established the lead early in the second set with seven consecutive points making the score 18-9. Gettysburg responded with five straight of its own, but they never could get any closer. Three straight Haverford points forced the Bullets to call timeout, but kills by Cantwell and Kate Comey put the set away.

Haverford came out swinging in the third set and just like in the second set, established an early lead. HC led 9-3 early on and by as many as nine later in the set. Except for a late run, the Fords kept Gettysburg at bay and closed out the set with a kill by Rebecca Salvo and a Cantwell service ace.

The third set was very closely contested from start to finish. Gettysburg took the first significant lead, 10-7, early on. The Fords clawed back and went ahead, 12-11, on a Rebecca Salvo kill. The Bullets responded by taking the next five points thanks to strong net play and went up 17-14. After calling a timeout HC responded by going on an 11-2 run to seal the victory.

Rebecca Salvo led the offensive attack with 18 kills. She also contributed 13 digs for a double-double. Rachel Salvo added 10 kills and 14 digs. Cantwell once again filled the box score. She recorded eight kills, two service aces, 13 digs, two block solos and one block assists. Glick led the defense attack with 15 digs. She was one of five Fords with at least 10 digs. Comey set up the offense with 49 assists.

Haverford will await the NCAA Tournament announcement for its first round opponent. An announcement will be made by Monday morning.
