Hopkins, Cardi Grab Titles at NCAA Mideast Regionals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins secured its 12th consecutive team championship while Dickinson's Isabel Cardi won the individual crown as the Centennial Conference put on a dominant performance at the 2019 NCAA Mideast Regional Championship at Lehigh University. 

JHU claimed yet another regional team title with 88 points, narrowly outlasting Dickinson (98) for the top spot. CC Rookie of the Year Katharine Priu and Sam Levy were the top finishers for the Blue Jays, taking second and fourth place, respectively. Stephanie Brown (16th) and Callie Jones (30th) also grabbed all-region laurels for JHU. 

Cardi ran away with the individual title for the Red Devils, finishing with a time of 20:38.5 in the 6k course, nearly a minute faster than runner-up Priu. With the individual win, Cardi becomes the sixth straight and 16th overall Centennial runner to win the regional meet, and the sixth in Dickinson program history. 

Dickinson's Sarah House was the fourth CC runner and second Red Devil to cross the finish line in sixth place, followed by teammate Tessa Cassidy in ninth. Emma Johnston (22nd) also claimed all-region honors for Dickinson with a top-35 placing. 

Other all-region honorees from the Centennial included Haverford's Griffin Kaulbach (14th), Swarthmore's Emma Novak (21st) and Phoebe Whiteside (28th), Haverford's Hannah Doll (29th), Swarthmore's Nora Blodgett (32nd), and Haverford's Sheena Dwyer-McNulty (35th). 

Centennial teams dominated the top of the team standings. Following JHU and Dickinson in the top five were Haverford in fourth place with 193 points and Swarthmore in fifth with 276 points. Franklin & Marshall (13th), Bryn Mawr (25th), Gettysburg (30th) and Ursinus (31st) rounded out the CC team placings.
