Sohmer batted .500 on 9-for-18 hitting in four games last week, highlighted by a two-home run performance against Gettysburg on Saturday with one of them being a grand slam. Over the course of the week, Sohmer scored four runs and drove in eight to spark the offense of a Haverford team that went 4-0.

 


Notebook:

McDaniel junior Eric Grantland led the Green Terror to a 3-1 week, hitting .471. He went 8-for-17 at the plate with two doubles and a home run. He also drove in a team-best 10 runs and scored six times.

Dickinson junior Rick Hopkins hit .500 for the week (8-for-16), scoring seven runs and recording four RBIs with a pair of doubles. He went 3-for-4 with a walk, four runs scored, and an RBI in Friday's win over Muhlenberg.

Gettysburg senior Henry Klimowicz tied a school record and reached a career milestone with a huge performance in a 17-6 win at McDaniel. He finished 5-for-6, including four extra-base hits (three doubles, one triple), while tying the school record for hits in a game and recording his 100th career hit. He also scored three runs and drove in three runs. For the week, Klimowicz hit .412 and slugged .706.

Bryan Baquer, Senior, Washington College

Baquer hit a team-best .478 (11-for-23) with two home runs, eight RBI, two doubles, two triples, six walks, two steals, a .581 on-base percentage, a 1.000 slugging percentage, and five multi-hit games in a 6-0 week for the Shoremen. He ignited the team's 6-0 week with a game-winning walk-off triple on Tuesday as the Shoremen rallied from 5-1 down to top visiting Franklin & Marshall, 7-6, in 10 innings. In game one of Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Haverford, he hit a two-run home run to give Washington a 4-1 lead to cap a four-run fourth inning. In the second game versus Haverford, he hit a home run to tie the game at 2-2 and spark a three-run bottom half of the sixth. On Sunday, he went 5-for-10 in a doubleheader road sweep of Ursinus. In the opener, he went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, and two RBI in a 7-6 victory in 10. In game two, he tied the game with a two-out RBI single in the top of the eighth; in the top half of the 10th, he hit a double to help set up a three-run frame for Washington in a 6-3 triumph in 10.

Ott batted .500 through four games last week, headlined by a 4-for-4 showing in the first game of a doubleheader against McDaniel on Saturday, a 4-0 win, when the senior hit two home runs. Ott followed up the second game with his third home run of the day. He's now batting .403 on the season.

Hopes hit .667 with eight RBI and four straight multi-hit games as Muhlenberg opened Centennial Conference play with a 3-1 record. He went 5-for-6 with four RBI in the first Ursinus game. In the second Ursinus game, he drove in the tying run in the sixth, completing a comeback from an 8-3 deficit, and the go-ahead run in the seventh. The Mules won, 13-11, to sweep Ursinus in the regular season for the first time ever. Hopes also went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Muhlenberg's 8-4 win at nationally ranked McDaniel.

Jablonski hit .467 (7-for-15) with 8 RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.133 during a 2-2 week for the Bears. The senior first baseman homered in the first three games of the week, giving him 14 for his career and moving him into third all-time at Ursinus. Jablonski hit three-run bombs in a 9-7 loss to DeSales and in a 7-3 victory over Gettysburg on Saturday, when he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and helped the Bears defeat the Bullets for the first time since 2012. He added a double and a stolen base and posted an on-base percentage of .579.

Sivo led the Green Terror to a 4-0 week, hitting .733 from the leadoff position. He went 11-for-15 at the plate and also drew four walks. He added a double and two triples among his hits to slug 1.067. He also had eight runs scored, four RBIs, and three stolen bases.

Barclay hit a team-best .632 (12-for-19) with two home runs, 13 RBI, three doubles, 10 runs scored, 21 total bases, a .714 on-base percentage, and a 1.105 slugging percentage in a 7-1 week for the Shoremen. In a 19-8 win over Albertus Magnus in game two of a doubleheader, he went 2-for-2 with a home run and a double to record five RBI and a game-best four runs scored. Earlier in the day versus Albertus Magnus, he went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, three RBI, a double, and a home run in an 11-0 win.  In WC's 9-3 win over Principia in the first game on Tuesday, he had two RBI and reached base twice.  In the team's 3-2 victory over Benedict on Wednesday, he went 3-for-4 and scored the game-winning run and also notched a double.

Anderson piled up 15 RBIs, batted .400, and slugged .800 over the final eight games of Gettysburg's Spring Break trip to Florida, helping the Bullets go 4-4. He batted safely in all but one game and had multiple RBIs in five games. His top performance came in the final game of the week, when he tied a school record with two home runs in a 4-2, extra-inning win over Merchant Marine.

West Chester, Pa. / West Chester East

Making his collegiate debut as a position player, Lawrence hit .750 (9-for-12) in a 3-0 week for the Bullets. A pitcher during his first three years at Gettysburg, Lawrence has made a seamless move to left field, posting three-straight multi-hit games. He went 3-for-5 in the team's season-opening win over Hood before going 6-for-7 with four runs scored in a doubleheader sweep of Rivier in Gettysburg's Spring Break opener in Florida. He was 3-for-4 in the first game versus the Raiders and 3-for-3 with three runs in the nightcap.

Grillo began his collegiate career with a bang, hitting .688 in four games to help the Mules to a 4-0 start. Batting out of the leadoff spot, he went 11-for-16 with 10 runs scored and stole five bases without getting caught. Grillo had at least two hits in every game and led off the top of the first by getting on base and scoring in every game. He also had three doubles and drove in a pair of runs.
