Darwiche Named Player of Week

The Johns Hopkins baseball team swept the weekly Centennial Conference honors as Alex Darwiche was named the player of the week and Josh Hejka was named the pitcher of the week. Hopkins went 2-1 during the week which included a walk-off win in 10 innings against #1 Cortland St. on Saturday. 

Darwiche became just the fourth player in team history and the 12th in Centennial Conference history to hit three home runs in a game as the senior launched three balls out of Babb Field in the Blue Jays' 19-5 win over Gwynedd-Mercy. In that game, he went 4-4 with four runs scored with a career-high six RBIs. He also notched an RBI in the win over the Red Dragons. For the week he hit .417 with a 1.750 OPS. 

Hejka earned the win in relief as the Blue Jays came from behind to defeat Cortland St. on Saturday. The righty tossed 4.1 innings of scoreless relief scattering three hits and striking out four.
