Offensive Player of the Week

Scott Cremens, Johns Hopkins
Senior, WR, Finksburg, MD / Westminster HS

 Cremens had nine receptions for 178 yards and three touchdowns as the Blue Jays defeated Juniata, 40-20. The 178 yards are a career-high and the three TDs match his personal best. The scoring tosses covered five, 29 and 40 yards.

Olsen picked off a pair of passes as the Bullets scored 21 points off of turnovers in a 35-3 win against McDaniel. Fiorentino registered three sacks for 25 yards in losses as the Bears held Moravian to just 95 total yards in a 24-7 victory.

Hunter averaged 47.8 yards on four punts, including a 59-yarder, and placed two inside the 20-yard line, giving the Diplomats a field-position advantage in their 36-28 win at Dickinson.

 

Around the Conference

Dickinson jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead but could not hang on in a 36-28 loss to Franklin & Marshall. The opportunistic defense scored 14 points, as Connor Thompson (Jenkintown, PA / Father Judge) scored on a 41-yard fumble recovery and LB Michael Miller (Hainesport, NJ / Bishop Eustace Prep) found paydirt after a 55-yard interception return. Thompson also led the "D" with 10 tackles. Sophomore QB Cole Ahnell (Rockville, MD / Walter Johnson) completed 19-of-28 passes for 254 yards, while senior Matt Wood (Baltimore, MD / Perry Hall) grabbed 10 balls for 190 yards and two scores. Wood is averaging 19.1 yards per catch with four TDs.

Franklin & Marshall won back the Conestoga Wagon Trophy with a 36-28 win at Dickinson. It is just the second time since 2003 that the Diplomats have left Carlisle with the Wagon. Junior QB E.J. Schneider (Barry Lakes, NJ / Delbarton) had another big day, accounting for four TDs – two on the ground and two through the air. He completed 23-of-36 passes for 260 yards, while junior WR Tim Muller (Pound Ridge, NY / Fox Lane) caught seven of those aerials for 109 yards and a TD. Schneider shares the CC lead with 12 touchdown passes. Soph RB Lamont Jackson (Philadelphia, PA / Germantown Academy) rushed 16 times for 95 yards. Senior DE C.T. Marsh (Phoenix, MD / Loyola-Blakefield) had a sack and needs three more to become the Centennial's career leader.

Gettysburg moved to 5-0 for just the third time in the program's 120-year history and first since 1987 after a 35-3 Homecoming Day with against McDaniel. The Bullets are also 4-0 in the CC for the first time since the 1994 squad started 5-0. Gettysburg ran its record to 16-5 since Week 6 of the 2010 campaign. Senior TB Ted Delia (Lebanon, NJ / North Hunterdon) scored three TDs, raising his season total to 11 and career total to 21. He is the 37th Centennial player to reach 150 points. Soph TB Eddie Hutchins (Weston, CT / Weston) ran 12 times for 95 yards and scored on a 10-yard run. Senior FS Drew Olsen (Staten Island, NY / Poly Prep) picked off a pair of passes to lead a defense that has allowed just 41 points this season – the fewest since the 1986 team yielded 34 at the midway point of its season.

Johns Hopkins extended its winning streaks in September (11), the Conference (17) and the regular season (19) with a 40-20 win vs. Juniata. This is the first time in school history that JHU has scored 33 or more points in five straight games in one season. The Blue Jays are now 19-1 in their last 20 games – the best 20-game run in program history. You could call JHU the Balanced Jays, as Hop averages 245.8 yards on the ground and 246.8 through the air. Senior QB Robbie Matey (Orlando, FL / Dr. Phillips) threw for career-highs of 386 yards and four TDs. He leads the Centennial in yards per pass attempt (8.6). Senior OLB Adam Schweyer (Allentown, PA / Allentown Central Catholic) totaled six tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown. The TD was the third of his career and all three have come vs. Juniata. He returned blocked punts for scores against the Eagles in 2009 and 2010.

Juniata took a 3-0 lead over 15th ranked Johns Hopkins into the second quarter but surrendered 33 of the next 36 points in a 40-20 defeat. Senior PK Scott Andrews (Hollidaysburg, PA / Altoona) booted field goals of 32 and 31 yards, while sophomore QB Ward Udinski (Doylestown, PA / Central Bucks West) threw a pair of scoring passes of 19 yards to WR Julian Valdiserri (Pittsburgh, PA / Mt. Lebanon) and 27 to Dominic Bornman (Mechanicsburg, PA / Cumberland Valley). Junior Brandon Felus (Columbia, PA / Columbia) had 1.5 sacks and leads the Centennial with five.

Junior RB Joe Rollins (Temple Hills, MD / Surrattsville) carried 28 times for 138 yards and closed in on the 2,500-yard mark in his career in the loss at Gettysburg. Rollins, who has rushed for 586 yards in three career games vs. the Bullets, now has 2,486 yards in 2.5 seasons. He is the first back to reach the century mark against Gettysburg this season. Junior LB Mike Cousar (Easton, PA / Easton) led the Terror defense with seven tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. McDaniel is -12 in turnover margin this season. Teams have scored 42 points off Terror miscues this season. McDaniel is 0-5 for the first time since 1986.

Moravian was shut down by Ursinus in a 24-7 loss, mustering just nine rushing and 95 total yards. Freshman Jimmy McCarthy (Bethlehem, PA / Liberty) scored the 'Hounds lone touchdown on a 4-yard run, capitalizing on a Bear turnover. He was Moravian's leading rusher with 32 yards on four carries, while also catching three passes for 32 more. Senior P Tyler Thompson (Harrisburg, PA / Central Dauphin) averaged 36.8 yards on 10 punts, including a 60-yarder. His 368 yards are the most punting yards in a game in school history, while his nine punts placed inside the 20 tops the CC.

Muhlenberg had one of its most difficult offensive days in a long time in a 17-0 loss at Susquehanna. The shutout loss was the first for the Mules in a regular-season game since 1998 – a streak of 142 consecutive games. Muhlenberg had not been kept off the scoreboard in a Centennial game since 1996. 'Berg mustered only 217 total yards. Senior RB Terrence Dandridge (Baltimore, MD / Archbishop Curley) moved into 18th place on the CC career rushing list with 2,734 yards. Senior QB Dan Deighan (Wanaque, NJ / Lakeland Regional) is now 14th on the Centennial career total offense list with 5,371 yards. He also tops the Conference with a 43.8 yard average on 18 punts. Junior LB Kory Crichton (Oxnard, CA / Chaminade College Prep) leads the Conference in tackles (51).

Susquehanna RB Connor McGrath (Sparta, NJ / Pope John XXIII) carried 44 times for 153 yards and two touchdowns as the Crusaders blanked Muhlenberg, 17-0. It was the first time the Mules had been shut out in Centennial play since 1996. McGrath scored on runs of 1 and 6 yards, while the 44 carries were just three shy of the school record. Senior Jack McCarty (Westminster, MD / South Carroll) had five tackles, forced a fumble and picked off his Conference-leading fourth pass of the season. He also has a CC best three fumble recoveries.

Ursinus outgained Moravian, 366-95, in a 24-7 victory over the Greyhounds. Junior RB Bryan Ellis (Owings Mills, MD / McDonogh School) carried 33 times for 136 yards and surpassed the 2,000-yard mark for his career (2,088). He has carried 273 times over the last 14 games without a fumble. Junior QB Chris Curran (Oceanview, NJ / Ocean City) passed for 225 yards and two scores, covering 41 yards to Darius Jones (Lawnside, NJ / Haddon Heights) and 28 yards to Josh Williams (Jamison, PA / Central Bucks South). Curran leads the Centennial in passing yards (1,232) and TDs (12), while Jones tops the Conference with six scoring catches. PK Eric Boyer (Fort Washington, PA / Upper Dublin) added the other UC points on a 42-yard field goal. Junior DE Andrew Fiorentino (Oceanview, NJ / Ocean City) had three sacks to raise his Centennial-leading total to five.
