Hopkins Preseason Favorite to Win Football Crown

LANCASTER, Pa. – August 5, 2015 – Six-time defending Conference champion Johns Hopkins is the preseason favorite to capture the 2015 Centennial football crown in a poll of head coaches and sports information directors. 

The Blue Jays, who won their 10th Centennial title last year, picked up 17 of a possible 20 first-place votes for 161 points. Voters were not permitted to select their own team. Muhlenberg was second in the balloting with three firsts and 144 points, while Ursinus was slotted for the No. 3 position with 122 points.

Moravian (97) and Gettysburg (96) round out the top five, while Franklin & Marshall (93), Juniata (65), Dickinson (62), Susquehanna (41) and McDaniel (19) follow.

The Centennial preseason poll has predicted the Conference champion in 15 of the last 17 years, including seven in a row.
