Gettysburg College senior linebacker Glenn Benson (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) and sophomore kicker Justin Geisel (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day School) took home weekly accolades from the Centennial Conference on Sunday, Oct. 29.

Benson was named the CC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, while Geisel was tagged the Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Benson was a key figure in Gettysburg's 29-21 victory over Susquehanna University on Oct. 28. The linebacker totaled a career-high 11 tackles in the contest and helped the Bullets hold the River Hawks without a score over the final three quarters of play. Benson's biggest plays came in the fourth quarter when he forced a pair of fumbles. His first came on a 10-yard sack, while the second set up Gettysburg's final touchdown of the game.

The senior is in the midst of a career year for the Bullets with personal highs for tackles (55), tackles for a loss (6.5), sacks (2.5), forced fumbles (3), and fumble recoveries (2).

Geisel earned weekly notice for the second time after connecting on three field goals and two extra points in Gettysburg's victory. He accounted for all of the team's points in the second and third quarters with boots of 31, 37, and 47 yards. His 47-yarder in the third period was the second-longest in program history and the longest in the conference this season. He also averaged 54 yards on seven kickoffs with his last pinning Susquehanna on their own six yard line with less than two minutes remaining.

The sophomore has hit nine field goals this season, which is the most by a Gettysburg kicker in seven years. All but two of his field goals have come from 37 yards or longer.
