On the heels of a pair of sensational performances, a pair of Ursinus College football players received weekly awards from the Centennial Conference.

Sophomore running back Samuel Ragland was honored as the offensive player of the week, and junior linebacker Jacob McCain was tabbed defensive player of the week.

Ragland scored four rushing touchdowns in Saturday's 42-7 rout of Gettysburg, matching the school record set by Bill Sedgwick back in 1993. Last year's CC rookie of the year joined Sedgwick as the only players in program history to accomplish the feat.

It's the first conference weekly award for Ragland, who produced 87 yards on 12 carries for an average of 7.3 yards per tote. He added one reception for eight yards.

Through the first two games of the season, Ragland leads the CC with four rushing touchdowns while ranking fifth in rushing yards (133) and sixth in yards per carry (5.8).

McCain was at the head of a suffocating defense that limited the Bullets to just 117 yards of total offense and six first downs. He finished with 10 tackles and a sack and also recovered a fumble.

Dickinson senior Billy Burger (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) was named the Centennial Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in the opening two weeks of the season.

Burger had another outstanding day, averaging 40.6 yards on seven punts, pinning Muhlenberg inside its own 20-yard line four times, dropping two inside the 10. Burger helped keep the Mules at bay in the third quarter with three punts of over 50 yards. He boomed the first kick of the second half 59 yards and followed up with back-to-back attempts of 54 and 53 yards, respectively.
