LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 10 field hockey team overtook Misericordia 2-0 in the NCAA First Round on Wednesday evening at Tylus Field.

F&M improved to 16-3 and advanced out of the first round for the fourth straight year. Misericordia ended their season with a 12-9 record.

After a strong defensive start, Emily Nagle looked to get the offense going but found her shot saved by the Cougar 'keeper in the 22nd minute of play.

F&M looked to get on the board when awarded a penalty corner in the final minute of play in the first but were unable to get a shot off, leaving the score tied at 0-0 entering the break.

The Diplomats were able to break through in the 51st minute of play after being awarded a penalty corner and subsequently a penalty stroke. Senior Annie Horsley made good on the stroke to give F&M the 1-0 lead. 

F&M kept the pressure to take the 2-0 lead in the 65th minute when Sarah Schannauer was able to find the back of the cage with a low, hard shot off a penalty corner from Nagle.

The Diplomats dominated in shots 20-0 and penalty corners 10-0. Misericordia's Katelyn Campbell tallied nine saves on the night.

F&M will travel to Newport News, Va. to take on Montclair State on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. matchup.
