Friday's Semifinal Notebook

Haverford vs. Johns Hopkins (Men's Soccer, 5:00)
The top-seeded Blue Jays (10-4-3) draw the hottest team in the field in the Fords (10-6-1) for their semifinal opponent. Haverford won its seventh straight game with a 3-2 victory at Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday, two days after downing Swarthmore, 2-1, in the regular-season finale to make the tourney for the first time. Hopkins defeated the Fords, 1-0, on Sept. 17 for its 15th win in the last 16 meetings against Haverford. The Fords earned a scoreless draw at home in 2010 and their last win against Hop was a 3-2 triumph at Homewood in 1995. Johns Hopkins leads the all-time series, 26-16-5.

Dickinson vs. Muhlenberg (Men's Soccer, 7:30)
The second-seeded Red Devils (9-4-4) and the third-seeded Mules (10-5-1) meet on a neutral surface at Homewood Field for the right to play for the Centennial title on Sunday. Dickinson defeated Muhlenberg, 1-0, just nine days ago and is 4-1-1 against 'Berg since 2008, including a pair of wins in the CC tourney. The Mules lead the all-time series, 31-14-4, but have not defeated the Devils away from Varsity Field since 2003. Muhlenberg has qualified for the Centennial tournament every season since its inception in 2001 and has a 5-8 record in the CC postseason, including tourney titles in 2003 and 2005. Dickinson is making its fourth appearance in the tourney and has a 3-3 record. The Devils reached the final in 2009, losing to Johns Hopkins, while the Mules are looking for a return trip to the championship match, dropping an overtime decision at Swarthmore a year ago. Dickinson is 2-0 in Centennial tournament play against Muhlenberg, winning both matches in 2008 and 2009 by 1-0 counts. 'Berg has never won a match at Hopkins' Homewood Field, either against the hosts or in a neutral site match.
