When student-athletes from around the Centennial Conference gathered for a Conference SAAC meeting, they used the opportunity to create a video to support the You Can Play project.

The mission of You Can Play is to work to ensure safety and inclusion for everyone who participates in sports, including LGBT athletes, coaches, and fans. The movement was launched in 2012 by Patrick Burke of the NHL along with Brian Kitts and Glenn Witman of GForce Sports in honor of Patrick's brother, Brendan Burke. Brendan died in a car accident a few months after he made international headlines when he came out as gay in 2009.

The Centennial Conference supports the goal of the You Can Play project to challenge the culture of locker rooms and spectator areas by focusing on student-athletes' skills, work ethic, and competitive spirit.  By promoting a welcoming and safe space for all student-athletes, the Conference's eleven institutions enable student-athletes to enjoy college athletics and grow as people. The Centennial Conference is excited to join the movement and spread its message: If you can play, you can play.
