Franklin & Marshall 80, Muhlenberg 73

Georgio Milligan scored a game-high 24 points to lead No. 22 Franklin & Marshall to an 80-73 victory over Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Sunday afternoon. The Mules had a chance to keep pace with Dickinson in the CC standing, but fell to 12-9, 8-6 CC. F&M avenged one of its two conference losses with the victory and improved to 17-4, 12-2 CC. Spencer Liddic paced Muhlenberg with 21 points.

 

Ursinus 64, Gettysburg 59

A 11-0 run over a six-minute span in the last third of the second half gave Ursinus (9-12, 6-8 Centennial) a 64-59 win over Gettysburg (11-10, 8-6 Centennial) Saturday afternoon. The Bears, trailing 49-48 with 6:31 left, went on the 11-0 run and ended up with a 59-49 advantage with 56 seconds left. During the run, the Bears were 6-for-6 from the foul line, part of an 18-for-19 performance (94.7 percent) in the second half. Ursinus was led by sophomore forward Jon Ward who had 19 points with senior guard Matt Hilton adding in 14. For Gettysburg, Andrew Powers had 25 points.

 

Haverford 77, McDaniel 68

The Haverford College men's basketball team came away with a key Centennial Conference victory Saturday afternoon, taking down host McDaniel College by a count of 77-68. Ian Goldberg finished with a game-high 26 points which included a 6-for-9 afternoon from beyond the arc. Permutt added 20 points in the offensive end and Brett Cohen chipped in with 14 more. Though both Devon Lesniak and Cullen Murray-Kemp hit for 18 points for the Green Terror, the home team did not have a stellar afternoon from the floor shooting only 37 percent, including a 10-for-28 performance from behind the three-point line. In contrast, the Fords were red-hot going 28-for-47 (64 percent) from the floor.

 

Dickinson 82, Washington College 68

The Dickinson College men's basketball team turned in another strong performance on Saturday, posting an 82-68 win over Washington College. The Red Devils held a 39-33 advantage at the break and outscored the Shoremen, 43-35, in the second half. Senior Matt Dolan (Chalfont, Pa./St. Joe's Prep) matched a game-high with 20 points, just missing a double-double with nine rebounds. He added four assists and went 6-for-7 from the free throw line. Sal Schittino led Washington (6-15, 5-9) with 20 points, hitting 7-of-10 shots

 

Swarthmore 53, Johns Hopkins 50

Sophomore Will Gates scored a game-high 21 points and came away with the game saving steal with two seconds left to play as the Swarthmore College men's basketball team hung on for a 53-50 victory over Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon in the 10th Annual Wall-O'Mahony Game. Freshman Jay Kober added 17 points on seven-of-nine shooting to help the Garnet (6-15, 3-11) pick up its first road win of the season and snap a five-game losing skid. The victory is Swarthmore's first in Baltimore against the Blue Jays since 1997. Freshman Daniel Corbett was named the Wall-O'Mahony MVP for the Blue Jays, while Gates earned the honor for the Garnet.

The Wall-O'Mahony game is played annually in honor of Johns Hopkins men's basketball alumni Glen Wall and Matt O'Mahony, both 1984 graduates, who lost their lives in the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. At the conclusion of the game, an MVP from each team is selected.
