FIVE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

  • Franklin & Marshall will host the Centennial final four for the fourth consecutive season, looking to become the first team to win three straight Conference titles. The Diplomats are 43-5 at the Mayser Center over the past three seasons.
  • Dickinson and Muhlenberg have never met in the Centennial playoffs. The Mules hold a 42-41 series lead in a series that began in 1923.
  • Haverford's backcourt of senior Ian Goldberg and junior Cam Baker both surpassed the 1,000-point mark for their careers in the season finale vs. Swarthmore.
  • Muhlenberg senior Spencer Liddic and Johns Hopkins senior Tim McCarty were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team. Liddic was a second-team selection, while McCarty was tabbed for the third team.
  • Johns Hopkins is a Conference-best 7-2 in games decided by five points or less.

Around the Conference

Dickinson

The Red Devils are back in the playoffs for a second consecutive season - the first time Dickinson has done that in the 19-year history of the Conference. First-year Gerry Wixted (Moorestown, NJ / Lawrenceville School) has had streaks of 26, 23 and 21 consecutive free throws made this season. Senior Chris Heine (Spring Lake, NJ / St. Rose) is one three-pointer shy of 100 made for his career.

Franklin & Marshall

Senior Georgio Milligan (Spring Valley, NY / Don Bosco Prep, NJ) became the Diplomats' all-time leading scorer with 1,807 points. He also holds the program mark for free throws made (507) and is second on the assists (590), steals (272) and games played (118) charts. F&M held 18 of their 25 opponents under 60 points. Coach Glenn Robinson now has 828 career victories and is one away from the 10th spot on the NCAA all-time wins list.

Gettysburg

The Bullets' streak of eight consecutive Centennial playoff appearances came to an end with the first sub-.500 season since 1997. Junior Alex Zurn (Brookeville, MD / St. Andrew's Episcopal) led the team in scoring (13.8), rebounding (5.2) and assists (2.3).

Haverford

Senior Ian Goldberg (Manhattan, NY / Poly Prep) and junior Cam Baker (Columbus, OH / Columbus Academy) both reached the 1,000-point mark for their careers in the season finale vs. Swarthmore. Goldberg tossed in 30 markers vs. the Garnet to finish with 1,028 - 10th best at the school. Baker added 20 markers in the loss to close his junior season with 1,015 points.

Johns Hopkins

The Blue Jays are the fourth seed for the Conference tournament and play host to Washington College on Wednesday. It is Hopkins' first home playoff game since 2007. The 14 wins is the most by a JHU squad since 2008. Senior Tim McCarty (Warrington, PA / Germantown Academy) was named to the Academic All-America third team. Soph Aleksandar Nikolic (Louisville, KY / DuPont Manual) scored a season-high 13 points to go along with a career-high-tying eight boards vs. F&M.

McDaniel

The Green Terror closed the season on a high note with tight victories over Swarthmore and Gettysburg. Senior Louis Sarris-Grau (Huntingdon Valley, PA / Lower Moreland) averaged 19.0 points in the wins and finished his career with nine straight double-figure scoring games.

Muhlenberg

Senior Spencer Liddic (Clarks Summit, PA / Abington Heights) was named second-team Academic All-America - just the second Mule to earn the honor in back-to-back seasons. Liddic, the Conference's career leader in rebounds (992) and double-doubles (44), needs eight caroms for 1,000 in his career. Malique Killing (Philadelphia, PA / Friends Central) surpassed the program record for points in a season by a freshman (427).  'Berg's 17 wins are the most by the program since capturing 19 in 2002.

Swarthmore

The Garnet closed the season on a high note, defeating arch-rival Haverford, 91-80. The win snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Fords. The 91 points are the most for Swarthmore since Feb. 20, 2008. Senior Marc Rogalski (Franklin Lakes, NJ / Bergen Catholic) recorded his second career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while classmate Michael Giannangeli (Potomac, MD / Winston Churchill) tossed in a career-high 19 points. Sophomore Davis Ancona (Columbia, MD / River Hill) had a career day as well with 19 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots.

Ursinus

The Bears suffered their second consecutive sub-.500 season for the first time since 1998-99.  Junior Jon Ward (Allentown, PA / Parkland) led the team in scoring (16.0), field goal percentage (61.2) and blocked shots (25), while freshman Jermaine Kamara (Cork, Ireland / Carrigaline School) topped the rebounding list (7.2).

Washington College

The Shoremen stumble into the Conference playoffs on a six-game losing streak and will visit Johns Hopkins in the first round on Wednesday. The last time that Hopkins and Washington met in the Centennial tournament was in the 1999 final. Washington has not won more than 13 games in a season since that 1999 season (17-10). Senior Kevin Breslin (Hagerstown, MD / St. Maria Goretti) is averaging 21.4 points over his last five games.
