2018 Outlook

Preseason Prediction: 1st

The Garnet are fresh from its first-ever Centennial title and first basketball championship of any kind since 1950. What can Swarthmore do for an encore? Three starters are back in the fold as Swat looks to repeat, led by Wiley, the 2017 CC Player of the Year. He averaged 18.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game and drained 76 threes. Wiley is one of the most dynamic players in the region and teams with Yonda to make the most potent backcourt in the Centennial. He averaged 13.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per outing. Walsh is the man in the middle, averaging 7.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and blocking 46 shots. Shafer had a strong rookie campaign with 5.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 71 blocks, while O'Dell also will see time in the paint. A host of talented young guards will battle Lammers for the time in the backcourt. Swarthmore is in the unfamiliar spot of being the team with the target. How the Garnet handles expectations could chart the course for 2018 success or disappointment.
