Three Times The Fun

Three Times The Fun

For the first time in Conference history, the Centennial has three representatives in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

Johns Hopkins, who won the title with a 61-57 win at Swarthmore, will host a four-team regional, while the Garnet will head north to Connecticut. Franklin & Marshall also received an at-large bid and will head south to Virginia.

The last time the Centennial membership had three teams in the field was 1991 as members of the Middle Atlantic Conference, as Hopkins, F&M and Dickinson made the tourney.

BALTIMORE, MD -- The Johns Hopkins men's basketball team will host a four-team NCAA Regional March 2 and 3, it was announced Monday afternoon. Hopkins will host La Roche (21-6), MIT (22-5) and Brockport (19-7) at Goldfarb Gym. The Blue Jays are making their 12th NCAA Tournament appearance and third in the last five years. Hopkins is hosting the first and second rounds for the third time since 2007.

Tickets will be $10 for adults; $5 for senior citizens, students of the participating institutions (with ID) and children; kids two and under will be admitted free. Doors to Goldfarb Gym will open one hour prior to the start of competition on both days.

Hopkins earned the Centennial Conference's automatic bid after defeating 11th-ranked and top-seeded Swarthmore, 61-57, in the championship game this past Saturday. The CC title is the fourth for the Blue Jays and they have won 13 straight entering the NCAAs.

The Garnet (22-5) finished as the runners-up in the Centennial Conference and have made the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row and the second time in program history.

Swarthmore ships up to the campus of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, to begin the NCAA Tournament. Swarthmore's opening draw is on March 2 against New England College, who finished 21-6 overall and won the North Atlantic Conference Championship.

Plattsburgh has won 19 games in a row dating back to Dec. 8. Plattsburgh first-round opponent is Nichols College (25-3) who has won 11 straight, including the Commonwealth Coach Conference Championship, but is not ranked regionally.
