All-CC Men's Basketball: JHU's Delaney Named Player of the Year; Swarthmore Collects Three Major Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins' Conner Delaney has been selected as the Player of the Year to lead the 2020 All-Centennial Conference Men's Basketball Team. Swarthmore collected the other three major awards, with Nate Shafer, Vinny DeAngelo and Landry Kosmalski earning top honors for the Garnet.

Delaney becomes the fourth Blue Jay to receive the conference's top award as Player of the Year, and first since 1999. Joel Wertman (1999), Greg Roehrig (1998) and Matt Gorman (1997) were the other JHU players to earn POTY recognition. He also becomes just the second player in CC history to earn by Rookie and Player of the Year honors, joining former Franklin & Marshall standout Brandon Federici in that elite club. The junior point guard punctuated his POTY candidacy with the game-winning jumper as time expired to knock off previously-unbeaten Swarthmore in the Centennial title game last Saturday.

Shafer, a senior forward for the Garnet, was named Defensive Player of the Year. He becomes the second-straight Swarthmore player to earn the accolade, with teammate Zac O'Dell having received the award last winter.

DeAngelo was honored as Rookie of the Year. The freshman point guard is the first Swarthmore player to earn the award in its eight-year history. He is also just the 19th freshman in conference history to earn a spot on the All-Centennial team.

Kosmalski was named Coach of the Year for the second straight year and the fourth time in the last five seasons. He is the only coach to win the award at least three times since its inception in 2009.

Franklin & Marshall (31) has the most first-team selections in the history of the conference, followed by Ursinus (20), Johns Hopkins (18), Muhlenberg (16), Gettysburg (14), Dickinson (11), Swarthmore (9), Washington College (7), Haverford (6), and McDaniel (5).
