Senior Vamsi Damerla sank a double eagle on the par-5 16th hole at The ACE Club on Tuesday afternoon in the Jefferson Invite and finished with medalist honors with a 73 (+1) on the day. Damerla's 73 tied with two other players but he got top billing after a tie-breaker. The Garnet as a team were tied for first place (out of 13 teams) with Division II Felician University with 310s, but that tiebreaker went in Felician's favor. On Damerla's masterful double eagle on 16, he crushed his drive 290 yards and landed on the fairway. He used his 3-wood on his second stroke and sank the shot from 252 yards out. Damerla said that he didn't see the shot land in the cup, but could hear people near the green cheering and that's how he found out that he nailed the extremely difficult shot.
