2018-19 Division III PING All-America Teams
NORMAN, Okla. – Gettysburg College senior Danny Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) became the first two-time All-American in the history of the men's golf program when he was tabbed Division III PING All-America Third Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Tuesday, June 18.
An honorable mention selection in 2017-18, Harcourt moved up to the third team and tied Guillermo Nakada '95 for the highest honor earned by a Gettysburg golfer. Nakada earned third-team national status in 1994.
Harcourt etched his name in the record books with the most dominant season in the history of the Bullets men's golf program. He broke his own season scoring record with a mark of 72.96 and won a total of five individual tournaments, including the Centennial Conference Championship. Only one of his 25 rounds was in the 80s and he carded six rounds in the 60s, including a program-record tying 67 on the second day of the Rosemont Ravens Invitational. Harcourt shot an incredible eight-under par at the Rosement event and finished just one-over for the entire season.
Harcourt was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year and he earned his second All-Centennial Conference First Team honor. He also gained his fourth consecutive nod to the GCAA PING All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team this spring.
The senior closed his career with the best finish-ever by a Gettysburg golfer at the NCAA Championship. He posted an eight-over 296 (77-72-74-73) to finish tied for 15th overall in a field of 216 competitors at the national tournament hosted by the Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky.
Harcourt lowered his season scoring average in each of his four campaigns and finished with a program-record mark of 74.3 strokes per round. He also set program records for rounds (83), events (52), top-five finishes (35), and top-10 finishes (39). Harcourt's 13 individual titles tied Hall of Athletic Honor inductee Jim Koury '83 for the program's career record. Harcourt also recorded eight rounds in the 60s, twice as many as anyone else in program history.
With Harcourt setting a torrid pace at the top of the lineup, Gettysburg experienced its best season as a team. The Bullets set a new program standard with a scoring average of 303.4, won nine team titles, and captured its first Centennial crown in 17 years. The squad shot under 290 four times, including a new standard of 285 at the Moravian Spring Invitational. Making its first national appearance in 17 years, Gettysburg finished 24th overall out of the 42-team field.
