LANCASTER, Pa. -- McDaniel's Ryan McGarry, Swarthmore's Dylan Zhang and the Franklin & Marshall coaching staff collected major awards to highlight the 2023 All-Centennial Men's Golf Team. McGarry was named Player of the Year, Zhang secured Rookie of the Year honors and the F&M coaching staff was tabbed Coaching Staff of the Year. 

McGarry was selected as Player of the Year, capping a remarkable final campaign and career for the Green Terror. McGarry led the conference with a 73.33 scoring average through 21 rounds, including one individual win, and five top-five finishes through 10 events. At last weekend's CC championship, McGarry finished in second place with a three-day total of one-under par 215, including rounds of 66 (-6) and 68 (-4) on the final day of competition. The Green Terror standout concludes his career with his name etched across the CC record book, holding the two lowest individual rounds in Centennial history (-8, 64 and -6, 66). His 73.33 average in 2022-23 is second all-time in the Centennial, behind only a 72.96 average from Gettysburg Danny Harcourt in 2018-19. McGarry is the 11th McDaniel player in conference history to receive Player of the Year honors, the most among any program. 

Zhang was tabbed Rookie of the Year after posting the top scoring average among newcomers at 74.37 through 19 rounds this season. Zhang captured one individual title and placed in the top-five in five of his 11 tournaments. The freshman also tied for fourth at the CC championship, earning a spot in the All-Centennial team. Zhang is the second Swarthmore player to earn top rookie honors, joining Vamsi Damerla (2016). 

F&M head coach Andy Tompos and assistant Deryl Denlinger were selected by their peers as Coaching Staff of the Year in the inaugural year of the award. Previously labeled the Coach of the Year award, the Centennial adjusted the named for all 24 sports in 2022-23. Tompos and Denlinger helped guide the Diplomats to their 13th team title last weekend at Waynesboro Country Club. This marks the eighth time that Tompos and F&M have received top coaching honors on the All-Centennial squad. 

Joining McGarry and Zhang on the All-Centennial team with top-five placings at the CC championship were F&M's Jas Fuhrer and Gettysburg's Daniel Suter and Patrick Kilcoyne. Fuhrer won the individual crown by two shots over McGarry, while Kilcoyne finished third and Suter and Zhang tied for fourth. Fuhrer and McGarry become just the seventh and eighth players in Centennial history to be three-time all-conference performers, while Suter was a repeat pick.
