Dickinson (9-7 in 2014, 6-2 CC, lost to
Franklin & Marshall in Centennial semifinal)
Head Coach: Dave Webster (Dickinson '88), 14th
season
Team Page | Roster | Schedule | 2014 Statistics
All-Time Record: 262-409-2 (.391) since 1952
Centennial Titles: 3 (2011-12-13)
Preseason Poll Projection: 2nd
Key Returnees: Chris Menard, Jr, M, 1st team
All-CC, 15-15-30; Tyler Llewellyn, Soph, A, 27-2-29; Brett Parker,
Sr, 12-5-17; Tyler White, Sr, M, 10-3-13; Slay Sudah, Sr, D, 2014
1st team All-CC, 3rd team All-America; Graham Parsons, Jr, D, 13ct;
Michael Smith, Sr, D, 19ct; Nick Baxter, Jr, GK, HM All-CC, 58.9
sv%, 8.18 GAA.
Key Losses: Brian Cannon, A, 1st team All-CC, HM
All-America, 30-19-49; Brian Gleason, A, HM All-CC, 21-19-40; Will
Scott, A, 15-9-24; Carter Moore, M, 2nd team All-CC, 65.9 F/O%;
Draper Donley, D, 2nd team All-CC; 21ct.
Top Newcomers: Dylan Maher, M (Ridgefield HS,
Conn.); Evan Weiner, LSM (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.)
Outlook: The Red Devils failed in their attempt
to win four straight Centennial titles but look to return to the
final in 2015. Llewellyn takes over the primary role on attack with
the graduation of Cannon and Gleason, while Menard and White are
talented middies. A veteran defense, led by Sudah, returns in front
of Baxter. Dickinson has established itself as a perennial
contender and if help can be found on attack and at the "X," the
Devils could be back in the title game this May.
Franklin & Marshall (13-5 in 2014, 6-2 CC;
lost to Washington, 14-6, in Centennial final)
Head Coach: Todd Cavallaro (Johns Hopkins '94),
7th season
Team Page | Roster | Schedule | 2014 Statistics
All-Time Record: 402-371 (.520) since 1947
Centennial Titles: 0
Preseason Poll Projection: 3rd
Key Returnees: Chad Gamble, Sr, M, HM All-CC,
21-12-33; Mike Bossidy, Jr, A, 35-14-49; Will Ballantyne, Sr, A,
34-7-41; Philip Gamble, Sr, M, 12-12-24; John Barney, Sr, M,
12-8-20; Wesley Rhudy, Jr, LSM, 14ct; Mike Sanzone, Jr, F/O, 57.1%;
Connor Melillo, Sr, D.
Key Losses: Josh Kanter, D, 1st team All-CC, HM
All-America, 21ct; Billy Kempner, A, 2nd team All-CC, 22-32-54;
Carlos Pelaez, D, 2nd team All-CC, 32ct; Jamie McCulloch, M, HM
All-CC, 26-6-32; Cameron Setian, GK, HM All-CC, 51.8 sv%, 8.32
GAA.
Top Newcomers: Read Ziegler, M (Westminster
School, Ga.); Sean Rogers (Loudoun County, Va.)
Outlook: The Diplomats have reached the
Centennial final in each of the last two seasons and look to break
down the door this spring. Bossidy and Ballantyne are accomplished
goal scorers, while the Gamble brothers headline the midfield along
with Barney. Sanzone is a talented faceoff man, while Rhudy is a
returnee with the long-stick. Close defense and goal suffered
graduation losses and must be addressed for F&M to get back to
the championship game for a third straight season.
Gettysburg (9-7 in 2014, 5-3 in CC, lost to
Washington in Centennial semifinal)
Head Coach: Hank Janczyk (Hobart '76), 28th
season at Gettysburg
Team Page | Roster | Schedule | 2014 Statistics
All-Time Record: 456-240-1 (.655) since 1958
Centennial Titles: 13
(1994-95-98-99-2000-01-02-04-05-06-07-08-09)
Preseason Poll Projection: 4th
Key Returnees: Robby Maddux, Sr, A, 1st team
All-CC, HM All-America, 42-20-62; Bijan Firouzan, Sr, M, 1st team
All-CC, HM All-America, 23-12-35; Jameson Smith, Jr, M, 2nd team
All-CC, 24-5-29; Geoff Davis, Jr, D, 2nd team All-CC, 15ct; Chris
Palladino, Soph, LSM, CC Rookie of the Year, 23ct; Kyle Hewitt,
Soph, F/O, 57.0%.
Key Losses: Martin Manilla, A, 2nd team All-CC,
39-28-67; Derek Ruebling, 14-8-22; Jon Maddalone, GK, 54.5 sv%,
8.44 GAA.
Newcomers: Noah Pompan, M (Harvard Westlake,
Calif.); Jack Davis, D (Apple Valley HS, Minn.)
Outlook: The Bullets won 13 CC titles from
1994-2009, but have not even made it to the Conference final since
2011. That could change in 2015 behind a powerful offense. Maddux
led the attack with 42 goals a year ago, while Firouzan and Smith
combined for 47 goals and 17 assists at midfield. Davis earned
All-Centennial honors on defense last spring, while Palladino was
named Conference Rookie of the Year. The goalkeeping job will be
won in camp. Who steps up and wins that position and how well he
plays could determine the Bullets' fate.
Haverford (1-13 in 2013, 0-8 CC, 9th place)
Head Coach: Colin Bathory (Haverford '99), 6th
season
Team Page | Roster | Schedule | 2014 Statistics
All-Time Record: 255-302-1 (.458) since 1972
Centennial Titles: 1 (2010)
Preseason Poll Projection: 8th
Key Returnees: Jack Bodine, Sr, A, 15-7-22;
Brandon Boccellari, Sr, A, 8-4-12; Tav Hafner, Jr, M, 9-0-9; Andrew
Fenaroli, Sr, D; Brandon Smith, Jr, LSM, 11ct; Andrew Dalke, Jr,
F/O, 39.9%; Eric Caliendo, Jr, GK, 55.4 sv%, 10.79 GAA.
Key Losses: Christian Clay, A, 12-10-22; Chris
Christensen, M, 17-2-19.
Top Newcomers: Ross Komenda, A (Eastside Catholic
HS, Wash.)
Outlook: The Fords suffered through a difficult
2014 season but look to bounce back behind a veteran defense.
Caliendo is a two-year starter between the pipes, while Fenaroli
and Smith guard the area in front of him. Bodine and Boccellari are
veteran attackmen, but newcomers could step up and provide scoring
punch. Hafner is the leading returnee at midfield. The Fords are
probably a year away but will be a tough out in 2015.
McDaniel (6-9 in 2014, 3-5 CC, 6th place)
Head Coach: Matt Hatton (Hobart '01), 9th
season
Team Page | Roster | Schedule | 2014 Statistics
All-Time Record: 360-352 (.506) since 1929
Centennial Titles: 0
Preseason Poll Projection: 6th
Key Returnees: Patrick Serio, Sr, A, 29-6-35;
Pat Bivons, Sr, A, 18-15-33; Tim McNichol, Soph, A, 20-7-27; Sean
Brett, Sr, M, 21-9-30; Jason Lawrence, Jr, M, 12-13-25; Matt
Dupras, Sr, M, 8-16-24; Will Kroppe, Soph, D, 18ct; Ryan Weiss, Sr,
SSDM, 8-1-9; Zach Bicho, Soph, F/O, 54.5%.
Key Losses: Christian Dallmus, GK, 49.6 sv%,
12.11 GAA.
Top Newcomers: Calvin Fleagle, A (Bel Air HS,
Md.)
Outlook: The Green Terror missed out on the
playoffs for a second straight year but look to return to the
tournament with a potent offense. Serio and Bivons combined for 47
goals and 21 assists a year ago, while McNichol added 20-7 in his
rookie campaign on attack. Brett, Lawrence, who earned All-CC
honors as a freshman, and Dupras are veteran middies. Kroppe and
Weiss headline the defense in front of a new 'keeper. McDaniel may
be the sleeper team in the Conference this year and may be a goalie
away from a first-ever trip to the Centennial final.
Muhlenberg (2-12 in 2014, 1-7 CC, 8th
place)
Head Coach: Chris Bissinger (Hampden-Sydney
'95), 10th season
Team Page | Roster | Schedule | 2014 Statistics
All-Time Record: 98-210 (.318) from 1965-80, 2003-present
Centennial Titles: 0
Preseason Poll Projection: 9th
Key Returnees: Jason Mertz, Sr, A, 14-23-37;
Jon Thomas, Sr, M, 28-9-37 in 2013; Pat Farrell, Sr, M, 12-7-19;
Steven Casella, Jr, M, 14-3-17; Brad D'Alessandro, Soph, A,
12-5-17; Jashon DeSenna, Jr, D, 17ct; Tom Kellerman, Soph, D, 10ct;
Adam Schlauch, Sr, GK, 47.9 sv%, 14.09 GAA.
Key Losses: Tom Glancy, A, 20-5-25; Danny Thomas,
D, 13ct.
Outlook: Muhlenberg struggled a year ago with a young
squad and hopes that the experience gained in 2014 pays off this
spring. Mertz is a talented feeder and will look to Thomas, who
missed most of last season with an injury, and D'Alessandro.
Farrell and Casella are veteran midfielders, while DeSenna and
Kellerman return in front of Schlauch in the cage. The Mules have
not been to the Centennial playoffs since 2008 and in a competitive
league, may be a year away from getting back.
Swarthmore (5-10 in 2014, 2-6 CC, 7th
place)
Head Coach: Pat Gress (Towson '91), 20th
season
Team Page | Roster | Schedule | 2014 Statistics
All-Time Record: 602-669-11 (.474) since 1898
Centennial Titles: 0
Preseason Poll Projection: 7th
Key Returnees: Andrew Preiser, Sr, A, 14-28-42;
Ian Lukaszewicz, Sr, A, 26-12-38; Chris Thomson, Sr, M, 11-9-20;
Darrel Hunter, Sr, D, 18ct; Mike Selverian, Jr, F/O, 60.8%; Matt
Lambros, Jr, D.
Key Losses: Geli Carabases, DM, 2nd team All-CC,
33ct; Jon Molloy, A, HM All-CC, 21-13-34; Brendan Conway, M,
14-6-20; Zach Schaffer, D; Jonathan Cohen, GK, 55.4 sv%, 9.35
GAA.
Outlook: The Garnet always plays everyone in the
Conference tough but has been unable to turn that into victories. A
veteran attack, led by Preiser and Lukaszewicz who combined for 40
goals and 40 assists, looks to change that in 2015. Thomson is the
senior leader of the midfied, while Thomas and Lambros headline the
defense. Selverian had a strong year at the "X," but can Swat find
a goalkeeper? The answer to that question, as well as the play of
the newcomers, will determine if the Garnet can make the Centennial
playoffs for the first time this spring.
Ursinus (9-6 in 2014, 5-3 CC, T-4th place)
Head Coach: Jamie Steele (Gettysburg '94), 6th
season
Team Page | Roster | Schedule | 2014 Statistics
All-Time Record: 89-104 (.461) since 2001
Centennial Titles: 0
Preseason Poll Projection: 5th
Key Returnees: Ryan Ridinger, Sr, D, 1st team
All-CC, HM All-America, 27ct; Brian Neff, Jr, GK, 1st team All-CC,
HM All-America, 58.7 sv%, 7.50 GAA; Steve Smyrl, Sr, A, 2nd team
All-CC, 31-13-44; Jake Weber, Sr, M, 2nd team All-CC, 22-12-34;
Mark Stratton, Sr, A, 15-16-31; Mike Neal, Sr, M, 14-14-28; Logan
Panaccione, Jr, A, 15-4-19; Cody Lefevre, Sr, D, 18ct.
Key Losses: Nile Thompson, DM, HM All-CC; Dylan
Spangenberg, 13-7-20; Shawn Caven, F/O, 66.3%.
Outlook: The Bears were seconds away from a
playoff spot a year ago and look to return to the Centennial final
four for the first time in four seasons. The defense is solid with
Ridinger and Neff who both earned All-America honors, as well as
Lefevre. The attack is loaded with Smyrl, Stratton and Panaccione,
while Weber and Neal combined for 36-26-62 at midfield last spring.
If Ursinus can find a quality face-off man, the Bears are a threat
to win it all in 2015.
Washington College (18-2 in 2014, 8-0 CC, d.
Franklin & Marshall, 14-6 in Centennial final; lost to
Salisbury, 13-8, in NCAA semifinal)
Head Coach: Jeff Shirk (Maryland '01), 5th
season
Team Page | Roster | Schedule | 2014 Statistics
All-Time Record: 641-352-1 (.646) since 1929
Centennial Titles: 4 (1996-97-2003-14)
NCAA Titles: 1 (1998)
Preseason Poll Projection: 1st
Key Returnees: Mike Trapp, Sr, F/O, 1st team
All-CC, 2nd team All-America, 12-6-18, 67.3%; Grant Hughes, Sr, M,
2nd team All-CC, 26-6-32; Stephen Luck, Sr, A, HM All-CC, 32-8-40;
Dan Pulzello, Sr, D, HM All-CC, 15ct; Sid Looney, Jr, M,
28-15-43.
Key Losses: Hunter Nowicki, M, CC Offensive Player of the
Year, 1st team All-America, 36-41-77; Casey McKnight, D, CC
Defensive Player of the Year, 1st team All-America, 12ct; Jim
Cusick, A, 1st team All-CC, HM All-America, 46-10-56; Kodie
Englehart, LSM, 1st team All-CC, 2nd team All-America, 13-11-24; JD
Campbell, A, 30-7-37; Ted DiSalvo, GK, 2nd team All-CC, 60.5 sv%,
7.50 GAA.
Outlook: The Shoremen won the Centennial title for the
first time in 11 seasons and advanced to the NCAA semifinals a year
ago. What can be done for an encore? First, start by finding
replacements for four All-Americans, including Nowicki - the 2014
CC Offensive Player of the Year. Hughes and Looney will man the
midfield after combining for 54 goals and 21 assists last season.
Luck is the veteran on attack, while Pulzello will lead the
defense. Trapp is one of the best face-off men in Division III,
while the goalkeeping job will be won in camp. Washington College
has reestablished itself as a perennial contender for the
Centennial title and 2015 will be no different.
