DeSimone, Fox Named Players of Week

Peter DeSimone, Ursinus; Cole Fox, Swarthmore

Freshman Peter DeSimone earned his second consecutive Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor after helping to lead the Ursinus College men's lacrosse team to a pair of impressive victories.

DeSimone registered five goals and five assists in a 2-0 week for the Bears, who stretched their winning streak to six with victories at Franklin & Marshall and at home against then-No. 17 Dickinson.

The prolific rookie produced opposite stat lines but equally potent results, posting a goal and four assists in Tuesday's 15-5 rout at Franklin & Marshall before notching four goals and an assist in a 14-10 decision against the Red Devils on Saturday. He added three ground balls and scored on five of his nine shots during the week.

DeSimone matched his career high with four assists – two in each half – during the win at F&M, which was riding a seven-game winning streak before Ursinus came to town. He followed that sparkling effort with four first-half goals as the Bears upended the nationally ranked Red Devils; his back-to-back strikes late in the second quarter stopped a Dickinson rally and sent Ursinus into halftime with an 8-4 lead.

DeSimone has recorded at least three points in five consecutive games, averaging an even five per contest during that stretch. The freshman is second on the team in goals (16), assists (14), and points (30), tops among all Centennial Conference rookies in all three categories. DeSimone ranks tied for third in the conference in points, tied for fourth in assists, and tied for eighth in goals.

Swarthmore goalie Cole Fox was named the Centennial Conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday following a 2-0 week in front of the net for the Garnet.

Fox saved 20 shots on goal and kept his GAA to 6.5 across both wins. The Garnet held Muhlenberg to just four goals in the 5-4 defensive battle with Fox denying 11 shots on goal. In the 11-9 win over Misericordia on Saturday, Fox recorded nine saves.

In six games this season, Fox has a 4-2 record with 66 saves and a GAA of 8.68.
