CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 on the season, knocking-off #7-ranked Cabrini College, 11-9, at Biddle Field on a chilly Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils, who also received votes in this week's USILA Coaches Poll, jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead. Senior Chase Phillips (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) fed an assist to Tucker Carney (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) to put the Devils on the board and brother Brodie Phillips (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) made the score, 2-0, at the 10:30 mark of the first quarter.

The Cavaliers answered with a man-down goal and pulled even with 4:18 to play in the first quarter. The Red Devils took a 4-2 advantage at the end of the first behind goals from Dylan Maher (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and Tyler Llewellyn (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield), with senior Mike Cherry (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) picking up an assist.

Brodie Phillips stretched the lead to 5-2, scoring in a beautifully executed clear at the 13:50 mark of the second. Cabrini countered with four different players finding the net to take a 6-5 lead into halftime.

Evan Downey tallied his third goal of the game in the opening minute of the second half to stretch the margin to 7-5.

Long-stick midfielder Nate Usich (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) found himself in the middle of an attack and finished a nice dish from Carney to cut the lead to one. Carney tallied another assist, finding Maher on an extra-man opportunity to tie the game, 7-7, with 10:06 remaining in the third.

Tyler Kostack connected with Timmy Brooks to put Cabrini back in front, just over a minute later. Cherry slipped one past Matt Nestler with under two minutes remaining to knot the game, 8-8, at the end of the quarter.

Kostack found Brooks again, just 42 seconds into the fourth quarter but the Devils would answer. First-year Nick Goles (Monkton, Md./Loyola Blakefield) evened things up at the 12:04 mark, finishing an assist from Brodie Phillips.

The Red Devils would capitalize on a two-minute, non-releasable penalty as Tyler Strods (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) fed Carney with 9:16 to play in regulation. Strods closed out the scoring at the 7:43 mark and the Devils would rely on defense to hold down the stretch.

Junior goaltender Andrew Jones (Odenton, Md./Arundel) made two huge saves, back-to-back, and came up with a big ground ball on a caused turnover by senior long-pole Andy Grabis (Chestertown, Md./St. Andrew's).

The Red Devils were able to make a final stand and secure the win to remain unbeaten on the young season.

Brooks led the Cavaliers with three goals and an assist while Downey tallied three goals and Tyler Kostack handed out three assists. Nester finished with nine saves as Cabrini falls to 3-1 overall.

Carney led the attack with two goals and two assists to go with four ground balls. Brodie Phillips scored twice and dished out one assist while Maher scored twice as well.

Grabis caused a pair of turnovers while Dane Huber (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) forced a pair and controlled a pair of GBs. Usich tallied three GBs in the midfield. Jones finished with 10 saves and a pair of ground balls in the nets. Junior Ryan Campbell (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fairhaven) won 11 face-offs on the day.

The Red Devils improve to 3-0 on the season. They travel to Widener University next Saturday for a 1:00 pm start.
