• The Short Story: Sophomore Connor Jacobs scored a pair of goals to lead the Johns Hopkins men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over visiting Dickinson on Friday night. The win secured the number one seed for the Blue Jays in the Centennial Conference Tournament.
How it Happened
• Dickinson pressured early and senior Bryan See was forced to make three saves in the early going.
• Sophomore Achim Younker nearly gave the Blue Jays the early 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. He worked free in the box and fired a low, hard shot that seemed destined for the right corner of the goal, but John Baney made a great kick save to keep the game scoreless.
• Hopkins did break through in the 25th minute off a corner kick. Freshman RJ Moore sent the ball into the box and it was chested down by sophomore Liam Moylan. Jacobs then blasted the ball just under the crossbar to put the Blue Jays on top.
• JHU struck early in the second half after Moylan was taken down in the box and drew a penalty kick. Senior Mike Swiercztook the kick, beating Baney to make it 2-0 in the 52nd minute.
• Jacobs got his second goal of the game in the 84th minute to push the Blue Jays' lead to three. He dribbled through several defenders in the box and beat Baney from close range.
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 34-17-4 all-time against Dickinson and has won the last two meetings.
• Hopkins earns the number one seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament and will host the semifinals and finals next weekend at Homewood Field. The Blue Jays are hosting the tournament for the fifth time since the tournament's inception 2001. Hopkins will host the tournament for the first time since 2011.

• See finished the game with four saves to earn the win. It is his 11th shutout of the season and 25th of his career. He is now tied for third in program history for career shutouts. Baney made a pair of saves in the loss for the Red Devils.
