Diplomats Earn Top Seed in Men's Soccer Tournament

Championship Central

Fourth-ranked Franklin & Marshall rolled past McDaniel 7-0 in Saturday's regular season finale to clinch the top seed in the Centennial Conference Men's Soccer Tournament for the first time since 2014 and the third time overall.

The Diplomats will host the semifinals and championship game next Saturday-Sunday at Tylus Field in Lancaster, Pa.

Joining F&M in the five-team championship field will be third-ranked and second-seeded Johns Hopkins, third-seeded Dickinson, fourth-seeded and defending-champion Haverford, and fifth-seeded Gettysburg.

JHU defeated Dickinson 4-1 in Baltimore on Saturday to lock up the No. 2 seed. The Blue Jays and Red Devils will meet once again in Saturday's semifinals.

Needing a result to earn a spot in the five-team playoff field, Haverford came through in a big way by downing Swarthmore 3-1, keeping the Fords' repeat title hopes alive. Haverford will host Gettysburg in Wednesday's opening round game at 2 p.m. The winner of Wednesday's Main Line showdown will meet F&M in the semifinals.
