GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College
men's swimming team won 10 of 14 events to earn a 156-105
Centennial Conference (CC) victory over Ursinus College on Saturday
at the Gettysburg College Bullets Pool.
The Bullets (5-0, 3-0 CC), who took an early lead and gradually
pulled away throughout the meet, stayed undefeated on the season
while Ursinus (4-1, 2-1 CC) suffered its first loss.
Gettysburg pushed its dual-meet winning streak to 17 and has now
won its last 27 Centennial Conference dual meets since the
beginning of the 2010-11 season.
Seniors Mike
Harmon and Jason
Potter (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) each turned in a
big meet for the Bullets. Harmon contributed to four victories and
won three individual events. Showing his versatility, he touched
first in the 100-breaststroke (1:02.23), the 200-backstroke
(1:56.42) and the 200-IM (2:03.10). He also swam the leadoff
backstroke leg of the 200-medley relay, which won in 1:37.36 and
also consisted of freshman Tyler
Dougherty (West Chester, Pa./Salesianum School [Del.]),
senior Kevin
Hartnett (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga), and junior Tyler
Gould (Darien, Conn./Darien).
Potter came away victorious in the 100-freestyle (47.36) and the
200-freestyle (1:46.80) before anchoring the winning 400-freestyle
relay team that was clocked at 3:18.62. Dougherty, Gould, and
junior Zach
Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) swam the first three
legs.
Dougherty also earned a victory in the 50-freestyle (21.53), as did
Gould in the 100-butterfly (53.55), and senior Kevin
Nicholson (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) in the 200-breaststroke
(2:19.70).
The Bullets take two weeks off from competition before hosting the
Gettysburg Invitational Dec. 5-6.
