Blue Jays Blank E-Town to Reach Sweet 16 for Fourth Straight Year

The 13th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team beat visiting Elizabethtown, 5-0, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday morning. JHU improves to 18-4 on the season and advances to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the fourth straight year. Elizabethtown ends its season at 13-7.

Juniors Andy Hersh and Jeff Kamei put Hopkins on top early with an 8-1 win at second doubles over Eric Fritzges and Josh Riehl. Freshmen Tanner Brown (pictured) and Erik Lim dropped their first game but won eight straight to win 8-1 at third over Bill Freitag and Cole Turula to give JHU a 2-0 lead. Seniors Jacob Barnaby and Warren Elgort closed out doubles play with an 8-4 defeat of Manrique Arrea and Paul Whitman at first.

Lim quickly pushed Hopkins' lead in the match to four as he needed the minimum 12 games to beat Turula at sixth, 6-0, 6-0. Brown turned the same trick at second, beating Riehl, 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the win for JHU.

Hopkins will face Middlebury in the Sweet 16 on Sunday. The regional final is slated to begin at 12:00 pm at the JHU Tennis Courts.
